Optima Battery ?
Hello,
Do any of you guys have an optima battery? If so, Red or Yellow Top and what size did you get? I'm trying to find out what size and which color I should get.
Thanks

I've worked for interstate batteries for 3 years and i have a yellow top in my R. They only makea yellow top in the 51 size. Your gonna have to get the SC-51R. Its definantly worth the money
Unless your running a serious aftermarket stereo setup, the Optima battery is overkill for an ITR. Those things weigh a freaking ton (40+ lbs or something). Just stick with stock or interstate/die hard battery (~26lbs) or get a braille battery if you want something lightweight (12lbs).
More info on the braille battery here:

I've been running my braille everyday for about six months now with no issues. Check back in the spring to see how it did during the winter.

For some reason my ITR battery would only last a year. I would have to replace them every year when it started to get cold (I know they should last longer). I don't have a "big" system, just a 400 watt amp and sub. I've had the Optima for over a year now and it turns over just as though it were new. Even if the car sits for a 2 months....I would recommend one.

Not the OEM sized Optima battery. It weighs about the same as a stock battery.

$109 even, damn. I got my AutoZone Silver something or other for like $30. I don't care about battery power enough to spend an additional $79...

it weighs 12 lbs and has 700 pulse cranking amps...
I got mine for $118 on a groupbuy.

Given that I don't race competitively, that still does not justify the benefits. Just my opinion though, I guess it works for some people.
Which reminds me .....I need a new battery as well. Woke up this weekend to a dead battery on the R. I need a battery with enough cranking amps for northeast winters....
Yea, despite the rumors of the Optima weighing a ton, it was exactly 4 pounds LIGHTER than the battery that was in there when I bought the car. (Die Hard I think?). I had good experience with them in the past as a reputable company and I wasn't buying a battery for weight savings so the Optima suited me fine.
