you can't really vtec a chassis, however you can add a vtec head to the motor

Thank you for your input, I feel so much smarter now.

What I talking about is the harness. How do you make it work with VTEC?

You need a VTEC head to wire up VTEC.

this thread is retarded.

all the guy wanted to know about was wiring.

"you can't vtec a chassis..."
"you can't run vtec without a vtec head..."

...for christ sake

still.. use the search tegn4sho

wait.. i'm a noob compared to you, why am i telling you this..

Should have covered this in the begining, the ls motor is going away and I am swapping a vtec motor, odb1 ecu and wiring on 97 b18c. I found a thread that covers the vtec solonoid and pressure switch. I have questions about the knock sensor and o2 sensor and will post the findings once everything is hooked and working. Any help will be appreciated, the motor does come until weds.
Thanks for the posts!

the reliability isn't so much in the build (which is not rocket science, by the way), as it's in the way people treat it. people rev higher than their motor is capable, so they blow the motor, or it was put together by a complete idiot, and blew because of him. end of story.
my ls bottom end and gsr top are completely stock, just like lots of others, many on h-t, and has been running perfectly with NO problems since last june when it was built, and it's not gonna be blowing any time soon.
if you want to discuss this further, you can message me and i'll answer any questions for ya.

um yeah i agree 100 percent.. buy urself a golden eagle lsvtec converstion kit and its as simple as 123. maye sure ur oil line is tapped and the dowel slots no longer to be drilled because of the GE dowels... its cake.

theres nothing about an ls vtec build that makes it less relaible if done right.

dont rev much higher then a stock ls redline if you have a stock ls block tho.. that is still not able totake realy high revs because of the rod bolts for the most part.
but even ARP has a solution for that.

p28 ecu (vtec ecu) and an obd conversion harness n u skrait dawg...

for work this large, its definfitly low on the difficulty scale

ahhhh.... C that would have helped from the begging. Everyone thought u were tryin to vtec a Chassis. Very diff to put a vtec head on ur unibody..... anyways u just need the GSR ecu and also the wiring harness from the vtec motor. im pretty sure the o2 sensor is the same i may be wrong since ur doin 0bd1... so just search

Couldn't have said it better... Go find a single person who blew their LS/VTEC who did not abuse their bottom end's limits and used the proper building technique (decking block, resurfacing the head, GE LS/VTEC kit or correct dowel conversion, fresh seals, gaskets, and bearings). You won't find a single one...
