i have a 91 honda crx and i snapped the steering rack and the rack for the crx is only availible from honda and its about $550 i was wondering if i can use a manual rack from any other car that will fit and work

 

a rack from our generation civic will bolt in.
88-91 civic/crx are pretty much all the same

90-93 integra p/s rack also works just plug up the lines also has tighter turn ratio only 3.5 turns instead of 4

 

I used a spare rack from a 90 hatch in my CRX and to this day it works good.

 

Power steering racks with plugged lines feel like ***.

 

quafe now offers the pinion and rack for our cars. for those who need snappier feel.

If im not mistaking, I thought i went to Pep-Boys a few months back, and i'm pretty damn sure they carry it.

I was looking for a rack, called an Auto Zone they didn't have any, Pep boys in my hood dosen't have **** eather,or they just don't want to look, but if anyone finds one for a good price for a rebuild put it here thanks.

get one from a junkyard man. you will save a lot of money, especially if you are a normal customer somewhere (at least that has been my experience).

 

yea get it from a junk yard....or try asking a local shop where they get their **** from.....I had to replace one on my CRX and the shop bought a rebuilt one for like 300. good luck

 

will a 88-91 civic dx rack work ok on a 91 crx dx?

 

all non power steering racks from 88-91 are the same. I have two manual racks. where are you?
