where do you hear air coming from?

is it just when the car is moving, or ALSO when the car is stopped?

have someone else push the brakes and listen to where the noise is coming from.

does your brake pedal ever go all the way to the floor? Usually when a master cylinder is going bad it will act strange.. when you push the brakes lightly the damn pedal will keep travelling all the way to the floor. You really don't get much more warning than that before the master cylinder gives out.

--when the car sits for a while, the brakes will make a hissing noise from rust buildup on the rotors. the noise will go away.

--do you have rear drums?

</TD></TR></TABLE>Yes. If the brake booster is leaking air it should be replaced right away.

Brake booster. The air you hear is the engine drawing air through a leak in the booster.
