Default Greddy SP exhaust

somepeople say to stay away from fiberglass as sound absorbing insulator material. Does anyone know that Greddy uses in their SP exhausts?
Also, is this exhaust good quality?

not sure about the fiber glass part...but i do know that the SP is a very good exhaust. It's pretty quiet at sane RPMs....sounds nice and deep...makes good flow, and looks cool too

Way back in 94 I got the Trust exhaust (which is the same as the Greddy SP) for my sister's Civic. The exhaust has a nice bass like sound and wasn't extremely loud. Well after 6 years the exhaust gave out. It started to make a rattling sound from the muffler. I begin to notice cotton like cubes all over the garage floor. So when I took the muffler off and looked inside, I realized the straight through pipe inside the muffler has rusted off and was rolling on the bottom. I took a coat hanger and fished it out. Now my sister is running around with a gutted out muffler and to be honest with ya, it doesn't sound all that much louder. Heres a picture of the straight through pipe:

For further explaination on whats inside the Greddy exhaust goto here : http://www.greddy.com/technical/Exha...tems_Frame.htm

Even though my sister's exhuast has some rust problems inside, I would still recommend Greddy to anyone looking for a nice exhaust. In fact I got the Greddy Evo on my Teg. The only complain I have about the Evo is the tip. Looks too huge.

I guess I'll stay away from it. I liked the SP because it is 60 mm (2.375") and it sounds good, but too many people have had problems with it.

ah.
i've only owned mine for 2 and a half years...then i sold it to get my 3 inch hks turbo exhaust.

i think after 6 years I'd expect something to break..but it's up to you which muffler you want to keep till it is old and crusty.

I got my Greddy SP almost 2 years ago. The diameter of the resonator is a bit on the big side and scraped at least once a day when it caught on a speedbump or exiting a parking garage. My car is lowered 1.75/1.5"s. This caused the front of it to get banged up and developed a hole rusting out a resonator after about a year. After living with the rattle for 3 months, I had the old one cut off and a new tapered one welded in. It cost me $75.00 and I like the exhaust again.

Same thing happend to my friend's TrusT SP, the cotton cubes started flying out while he was driving. After that the SP sounded like a 5Zigen fireball exhaust.. haha... But that muffler lasted him 3 years i think? But it's a good muffler for the performance and sound.

6 yrs of SP? you cn't complain 'bout that. may if I ever have to change mine it will be the EVO since it does not hang as low as SP. SP sounds really good but quite on idle... I have one for a year and never had any problems

So far so good. Just got the SP a few months ago. Had the Comptech before it. I like the look of the SP better, but the Comptech piping quality was far superior, imo. The GReddy resonator has not posed any clearance problems. It tucks up very nicely compared to the low hanging Comptech. The muffler part of the Comptech had a lot more clearance than the GReddy does, but I haven't had any problems yet and my car is lowered 2.7" in the front and 2.6" in the back with only me in the car. Fully loaded down with passengers and the shocks on firm I'd say I'm riding about 3.25" lower than stock and have no problems with exhaust clearance. If you guys are scraping on speed bumps then i'd suggest finding a smaller mountain of a speed bump to go over or avoid it entirely.
