gsr block type R head
I just blew a head gasket in my 96 GSR the other day and was thinking
of doing something other than just cleaning up the head and putting
it back on with a new head gasket. One thing I was thinking of is
to use a an integra type R head, civic type R intake cam, integra type R
exhaust cam, skunk2 intake manifold, spoon 2 layer head gasket. I was told
that using the type R head on the GSR bottom end will lower compression about .2. The spoon head gasket raises it about .4. That should give me a bump of .2 overall and better flow with the skunk2 intake manifold and type R head + cams.
Another thing I'm looking to do is replace my stock exhaust with a Mugen cat-back system. I already have a Comptech CAI + header. I'm going for reliability more so than outright power. I know the type R head will fit and the Mugen exhaust will fit good but I don't want to get a drop in power. Can someone help me estimate how an engine like that will perform/sound?
