Whats up everybody,
My DC2 is gone . I've been trying to sell it for $15k and only got people flaking out on me.... I don't blame them, that's a lot to ask for I guess. Anyway, to my surprise, insurance has given me a check for $16,9xx. Now I don't want to put all my money into a car anymore, so I am looking for a 92-95 hatchback in good condition so I can swap the motor and use it as my daily driver.
So my question is: If anyone is selling a stock or near stock EG, please let me know. Next, what motor swap should I get. I'm not asking to run 10s... not even 12s. Low 13s for a daily driver is ok with me. My budget is $6k including the car itself. I've been leaning towards LS or B20 turbo at stock boost. I know the B20 has weak sleeves, but I am not boosting more then 8psi so it should be fine right? Will this get me to low 13s or no? Also, if I bought a long block, what tranny would be best for LS or b20?
Sorry for all the questions but since I'm "starting over," I wanted to get the best advice, my mistake was not going on HT when I had my GSR... blew motor 3 times... by the way I have some pics of my untotaled car and my totaled car if anyone wants to see them. I don't know how to post pics though...
Last thing, there is a shop in my area selling a 92 hb si for 3k. Is that a good price? The motor and body has 230,xxx miles on it... the motor doesn't really matter though.

well, i guess ill just answer these in the order that you asked them and hopefully i can enlighten you a little bit.

1. the classifieds is the best place to look for a hatch...not in this forum. you will only run into guys that have no patience for new comers that post whats on the top of there heads in whatever topic they see first.

2. there are a ton of different motors and set-ups you can run that will get you into low 13's, without even using boost or nos, or even a complete built all-motor set-up for that matter. you are just going to have to research a little more and do your homework. (for example, i have a semi-built b16 in the mid 13's right now).
since im an allmotor fan, boosting is something i cant help you out on, although i know 8 pounds of boost on a stock b20 bottom end is kinda risky. yes, that set-up will get you past the low 13's, way past, but im sure about it being a "daily driver".

3. that price is a little high, especially because of the mileage. the body and interior better be in PERFECT condition.

so, with that in mind, mike's golden advice for the questions you asked:::

find a cheaper shell, buy it, swap a 1.8l (USDM or JDM GSR VTEC) motor, install your basic bolt-ons and invest in some good suspension and brake set-ups, come back to us and tell us how you like it. im sure that this will be plenty fast enough and you will have plenty of reliability for your daily driver.

No, insurance gave me a check for 17k... that's it... I was saying that I was trying to sell it for 15k before it was totaled and never got it... They kept the car for 17k.. I don't have it anymore

yeah, i'll try to get pics up by this weekend...i have seriously been thinking about selling the shell and keeping the motor, mabe we can work something out if you make me an offer...i'm in Broward County.

 

I would suggest...NOT buying a car from someone on here haha...this place is for young people that like to play with their cars...you wont find a little old lady on here selling her stock eg

Thanx for the support ******* ...first of all you dont know anything about me or how it treat my car...secondly, he was asking about the shell, a shell is a shell, most people abuse their motors, i dont know about you but i dont go around banging my car up against the wall and ****...and where on autotrader are you gonna find just a shell, **** most civics on there are expensive *** hell and with horrible condition bodies...so next time if you dont have anything good to say keep your comment to your self!

Yeah, once you get those pics up, I can make an offer, or if the pics dont do the shell justice, I can go look at it in person. I'll let you know when I see the pics.
