Yea the shorter gear ratios are definitely nicer, the LS tranny isn't too good.

only disadvantage is that you will be cruising at a higher RPM than you would with the LS.

the gsr 5th isnt too bad at highway cruising. you can deal with it pretty easily. that's a small price to pay to have that tranny compared to an ls.

acceleration is improved.

if you've got a loud exhaust, you'll be drowning cruising 80 at 4k.

i love my c1 tranny

a gsr and an ls tranny on 2 identical motors, the gsr will beat the ls. vtec will still work, if that's what you mean, but the one with the gsr tranny will still accellerate faster.

duh. i though everyone finally figured out that an ls tranny is not "better for boost." i guess some people are still clueless.

LS tranny is good for a commuter car where gas mileage is the focus. Because an LS 5th gear rivals that of a car that you would see on the salt flats; it is never ending.

Im thinking about a GSR with LS 5th gear since my bud does tranny work for a reasonable price.

But LS is nice for mileage and some turbo applications if you need those long *** gears...

But god i love that GSR tranny

Used to have a B16 tranny on my LS!(Loved it) Then I went to a an LS tranny after my synchro fucked up! The LS tranny sucks big time!!!!! Now I have a GSR w/ LSD and I like it but still not as nice as a B16 tranny!

i want to do ls 5th sooo bad. gsr 5th is gonna have me top out at 130 at 7krpm. (speeding is bad, dont speed). oh well, eventually ill throw the ls 5th in to get the mpg and top speed up, but for now ill just do with stock gsr tranny on the ls(boosted by spring)

don't install an LS 5th!! trust me on this...when you shift into 5th gear since with 4th you'll be topping at or around 90mph, you're car is gonna feel like it came to a hault. if anything try swapping in the LS FD.

my buddy and i swapped an LS 5th into his GSR with B16 tranny and going from 4th to 5th is crap!!

I agree, change the Final Drive, not 5th gear!

Who are you trying to run at 130+ anyway? Staying at high rpms like that in 5th for a long time will only cause damage to the motor!
