wut happened was that i was on the freeway trying to pass up a car and as soon as i hit 80mph i felt my car jerk a little and from there it just started to deccelerate. the motor was still running but when i stepped on the gas pedal i got no response. the tow truck guy sprayed starter fluid in the manifol d thinking it would start but nothing he said it could be my fuel pump but i check it and it was fine. timing belts are on so its not that either. does anyone know?

Very well could be the ignitor. Pull a plug wire and check for spark. Keep in mind that if given time to cool, the ignitor may start working again. Another common problem is the coil.

Have u even visually inpected the distributor? Take off the cap and see what u can see (rotor screw may have fallen out, melted components...etc)

I also read where u said the motor was still running when it started to coast. Could that be because it was still in gear and the force of the car moving was turning the motor over? If u didnt put the car in neutral, i bet thats what it was.
