Why 10" or smaller slicks?
Here's my reason, taken from the nhra rule book:
Any size DOT rated tire or racing slick(maximum of 26" x 10.5") that fits within the confines of factory, OEM, unmodified wheel opening and wheelwell. Retreads, space saver spares, or any other non-DOT approved tire prohibited.

Why not 14? or whatever... </TD></TR></TABLE>
rules aside, it IS possible to OVERSLICK the car...ie too large of slicks...
on the other hand, the pro fwd and hotrod guys are limited within the confines of the rules, meaning they actally could benefit from larger slicks in some cases
