tranny problem????
my car wont go into 1st or 2nd gear. this happened out of NOWHERE. i was driving casually and then, after a stop sign, my car refused to go into 1st or 2nd.... all the other gears are fine. first thing i checked for was the clutch fluid. its full. so no air bubbles could've gotten into my clutch line. any suggestionis?????
Things to check:
1. New Tranny fluid. I would do this first.
2. Clutch fork
3. Clutch (complete assembly)
If there a lot of play in the shifter and i mean a lot it could be a inner linkeage problem.

If fresh tranny fluid doesn't help, open that rubber boot over the clutch slave & throw-out fork. Have someone pump the clutch pedal, measure how far the fork moves. Mine moves about 12 or 13 mm. If yours moves less then you can blame the hydraulic system. Just because the reservoir's full doesn't prove anything about air getting in...
If the T-O fork moves properly, then your clutch can be dragging for other reasons. Warped disk, busted spring? Maybe a pilot bearing that's going bad?

Had you been thrashing your car in those gears just before it happened? I was doing reverse doughnuts one day and gave reverse gear absolute deaf, next time i tried to put it in reverse it wouldnt go in, turned out id seized the bush in reverse gear. (nylon bush melts due to overheating)
never did anything that would mess my gears up. i was just filling up gas.. and when i came to a full stop to see check if i can make a right turn out, it wouldnt go to first.. so i tried second... that wouldnt work.. so i tried third, and it went in, so i drove home like that.
