gas gauge fluctuates....really bad
lets say im at half tank crusies at 35 then i hit a red light. then i brake, wen i look at the gauge it goes down to quarter tank(WTF), then wen i start driving it goes back up to half VERY VERY slowly. what do you think is the problem, does this happen to anyone else.
car is in my sig

gas = liquid
liquid = able to move around easily
moveing around = your sensor cant read the levels properly
not proper reading = gas gauge flucuation
if you live in snowy climates, got to a deserted parking lot, pull the ebrake in the snow, let the car spin, and watch your gas gauge.....

if it really bothers you that bad and its not your gauge then you can get a fuel cell with a giant sponge in it so the fuel dosen't slosh around other then that.... SOL
Honda fuel level sending unit and gauge incorporates a filter to eliminate excess needle movement. In a correctly working gauge it takes several minutes for fuel level to indicate correctly after a fillup. This same features smooths out needle movement due to fuel sloshing in the tank. Baffles are also used to prevent fuel starvation when you go around a long curve w/ lateral accelerations.
Bottom line is you most likley need a new sending unit.
You can check the voltage supply on the Yel/Blu wire at the fuel gauge sender at the tank access panel. Voltage should be 5-8V w/ ignition ON. If voltage absent check for open or ground in the wiring.
If you place a jumper across the fuel sender connector connecting Yel/Blu and Blk wires and turn ignition switch on briefly, the fuel gauge should move rapidly towards Full. Don't let the needle go to the stop or you may damage the gauge movement. If no needle movement, you probably have a bad guage movement.
good luck
If both above are OK, a new fuel level sending unit is needed.

ive had this problem in my civic soemwhat, but the worst was my 94 accord, the needle hopped around constantly, i never knew how much gas was there, even when you filled the tank the gauge only read 3/4 the car was pretty beat up as it was so i never really looked into it, kinda just lived with it.

Had this problem with my civic and sometimes with my accord. I had the sending unit replaced twice in the civic and it never really fixed the problem. But since the accord has a low fuel warning light I just deal with it.
not to high jack the thread, but my fuel light has never come on. maybe my neele reads incorrectly to in my 95 accord. it also fluctuates and i never put more than 15 gallons in even though its a 17 gallon tank
