Default D15B VTEC Swap

Hey,

My friend has a Civic Std. model and I am helping him put a D15B VTEC in. I have searched all over but cannot find an answer. What does he need? I know it has to be swapped to MPFI, can he use the 4 speed manual? Need new axles, shift linkage, etc? Does he need a P28 ECU, I am confused, he already has the motor but we have not tried anything yet. Any help greatly appreciated

Im swapping out my usdm d15b2 for a d15b vtec motor and i planned on using my stock spark wires for the time being, but they dont fit. The jdm motor has those cylinder-type tubes that come up from the plugs, so the wires dont fit. I have no idea where to get the stock wires that came on these motors. Will wires from a d16z6 work? Any help would be great..

Yes Z6 wires will work. Anyhew, stock transmission can be used but not advised and the Z6 ecu will also run the motor all fine and spiffy like.

Just get a obd0 to obd1 ecu harness so you can use the p28. Buying stuff for the engine is the same as the Z6 as far as wires, plugs, timing belt, cam, cam gear etc....Now the bottom end is basically a VX with just different pistons. Just use the engine mounts from your old engine cause the one on the d15b will tilt and angle the engine somewhat. The old mounts will bolt right on.

hardest part is wiring up for mpfi but after you do it once its a breeze switching over to obd1 is easy with a jumper harness other then that its prettyy straight forward just drop in the engine with the mounts of the std motor and put them on the d15b jdm motor any?'s along the way give me a holla e-mail me or pm and ill help all that i can

I need to know how to go from dpfi to mpfi do I splice into my existing wires that run the dpfi or is there a different way? Is there anything I'll need to buy, just break me down with a list of things to buy or do . Some how I knew this swap was gonna come down to a bunch of wires.

Small question...

I have an '89 - D15Bx & Auto trans...

Will the D15B block (just the block) bolt up, where the existing one was ?

Sorry not an expert on the EF chassis...

Yup, you may have to change the driver side mount bracket on the motor though to the one from the donor motor.

For a DPFI-MPFI swap some people sell everything you need with all the wiring heat shrinked and all for about $100, comes with EVERYTHING and instructions

If you're going OBD-1 conversion try to source a JDM ECU, either P08 or P70
These run off single wire O2 sensors which saves you some wiring and does not look for VTEC pressure signal.

Will i be able to just "plug & play" with a 92-95 civic ex/si vtec wiring harness. And is there any difference between an auto or manual harness? The car is going to be automatic for the time being. Thanks

Well ive got my existing dx harness, but i was wondering if it would be easier just to get a vtec harness from a 92-95 vtec hatch. I've aready got the p28 ecu and z6 dizzy. Any help's apreciated, thanks for the replies.
*And to whoever asked where i got the motor; I bought it from One 6 motorsports in Arlington Height Illinois. $460 after tax, includes manifolds,TB,fuel rail,injectors,etc....30-50k in them. They source their motors from H-motors, so you can be sure they're of good quality.
