Default Stolen ITR resolution

A little reminder of when my ITR was stolen:
https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=951514

So it's been 88 days since some low life piece of **** stole my baby from me. I thought some of you might like to know what's happened since then. First off, nothing of the car ever turned up. After about a month or so, my insurance company (State Farm) came back with a offer of $15,691. I found that horribly insulting and told them no chance in hell. So then after a lot of me pointing out mistake after mistake in their "reports" and going back and forth, the latest offer made to me yesterday morning was $17,827. I'm finally happy with it cause I believe I could replicate my car for that. Ugh, so I think I'll be handing over my title today......that's sad.

For the record, this was a '98 ITR with 51K miles in really, really good condition inside and out. It had newer tires on it, AEM CAI, and a Comptech axleback.

I still have no idea what I want now. I've looked at pretty much anything and everything to this point and am just waiting for something to jump up and grab me. I have another car so it's not like I need to run out and get something. All I know is that I still miss the hell out of my ITR.

pretty nice settlement, although nothing will make up for the stolen car.

Another ITR is not an option at this point?

sorry to hear. was your car paid off?
I'm scared that if my baby is stolen that I'm going to be stuck with the bill. I owe too much for 17k to pay it off. Well I know a dude on here is selling his black ITR and it looks really clean. You should check it out.

that's just a bit more than what I got for mine that was stolen a little over a year ago and had 78k on.. not bad..

i had state farm and had to do the same thing.. they started at like 13k and I had to argue with them for well over a month, citing mistakes, examples of other equivalent cars for sale, etc..

In all fairness, yours was two years newer and came with A/C (yea, that made a difference). That still seems like a good price though.

Another ITR is an option and if I got one it would be a '98. Real ITR's were Chapionship White, end of discussion. The '97's are real hard to find in nice shape and I also like the different bumpers, tail lights, and rear windshield wiper of the '98 too.

Yes, my car was paid off (had it for 5.5 years) so that wasn't a problem.

yup...the best thing to do is NEVER settle quickly, when my R was stolen, they wanted to settle a week later, I keeped yelling and screaming at the adjuster and claim representative everyday. TWO MONTHS later I settled....i guess they wanted me to stop calling and stop stoping by their local office everyday

i have state farm too. this is why my insurance rate keeps climbing, even though i (thank god) have no infractions on my driving record. its those piece of SH*TS! that stole your caR. i hope they burn in their own blood in hell.

Wish that you never had to "settle" for anything but it does sound like you made out ok.

I'd say that's a pretty damn good settlement for a 6+ year old car. Insurance companies could care less about the implied value of an AARRRRRR. It's jsut another 6 year old car to them.

You should feel lucky to have gotten what you got.

Yea, I'm as happy as one can be with the situation, I suppose.

If you ever met me, you'd know my *** could never fit in a S2000 - haha.
