No spark after engine rebuild.
I rebuilt my buddy's engine in a 2000 civic si and im not getting spark anymore. Its a b16 block with a b18 head. When I primed the motor before trying to start it, I pulled the plugs and pulled the PGM-FI fuse from the fuse box. I think I should have pulled the 40a ignition fuse also to disable the distributor. After talking to a couple of friends it sounds like I fried the distributor or ICM.
I swapped out a new coil pack and then a brand new distributor which didnt work. However, I thought a new distributor came with a new ICM. Still no spark. I performed the input tests on the ICM like it says to in the Helms and one ground test failed. In the helms it says if all tests pass then replace the icm. All test were fine except the test for continuity between the test tachometer and ground. It said there shouldnt be continuity and there was.
Should I just try to find an ICM from a junkyard (ive read that all OBDI and OBDII civic and integra ICMs will work) and see if I get spark? Or should I look into the reason Im shorting to ground in the test tachometer circuit?
