Default Type R - Sheriff Magnet

I just met the most **** Sheriff in the world this morning - thankfully I was law abiding at the time. About 10 seconds after I pulled up to the airport loading area to pick up my brother this Sheriff comes up to my window. Despite the fact that the pickup area was completely empty he proceeded to tell me that I could not park, even though I was going to stay in my car (I could see my brother through the window getting his bags). Okay, so that was enough to make me upset right there. Then he eyes up my V1 radar detector and has the nerve to ask in a serious voice, “what is that on your windshield?”. In return I say, “that’s a radar/laser detector,” knowing that Mr. Sheriff has probably already seen a fair share of these things. Then the situation got really out of control. I felt like I had been pulled over for speeding or something. He proceeds to tell me things like, “those things don’t work,” “that thing obstructs the view of the road,” “I’ve pulled over people with that exact same radar detector” Then he said, “there’s a new squad car out on the road here in Milwaukee that you’ll never see coming. A matter of fact, I’m not going to tell you what the vehicle is” This dude was so full of himself - it figured he was a sheriff! I took a wild guess and said, “It’s probably a new C5 Corvette” From the surprised look on his face after that comment I was probably correct.

I was so angry this guy went off on me for no reason. Just needed to vent with some people who understand.

Haha, one of the local police departments around here has a C5. Kinda sad seeing such a nice car with different color doors and lights on top

I hate goons like that...

why would they need a C5? Not many people try to run from the cops anyways. Are YOUR tax dollars paying for fat lazy sherrifs to have fun in the name of the law?

You're not supposed to be able to bring your car close to the airport anymore due to the security improvements mandated by the 9/11 disaster. You probably pissed him off my insisting on stopping your car there (which you SHOULDN'T) and are kind of an *** for doing so. Why provoke cops in the first place?

The whole radar detector thing was nothing.

But you started it....

yeah, seriously...what's the big deal, just drive in a circle around the airport, that's what I have to do to pick someone up...come back around and pick them up when they are outside...

not to say he didn't bust your *****, but it's happening everywhere...

yeah they have really bumped up security so you have to be careful with that. Just drive around a couple of times and its all good.

Here in Chicago, the police dept. has a couple of SS Camarosand C5s, but no police badging or anything. Pretty stealth. They only pull over the big boys though.

Ive only been pulled over once in my ITR in the 6 months Ive had it. The one time i got pulled over, I was doing 118mph and surprisingly the cop was real cool and didnt even give me a speeding ticket. He gave me a failure to signal ticket instead. you cant generalize all cops just because of a few sour apples. but that does suck that he harrassed you like that and its too bad us lowly civilians cant do much about it.

My town has 2 C5's and we only have 35,000 people! I think I see them parked at dunkin donuts more than out driving on the street though. I'm serious too

Well if you understood what the cops do to people around here then you wouldnt assume that the town I live in is shitty. Cmon down to P.G. county MD and tell me what you think about the cops.

If you weren't breaking the law, then the cops have no reason to come after you!

what makes you think I was breaking the law? So crooked cops can just beat the **** out of people just cause they think that they think someone broke the law, yeah ok.

P.G county police at one time had the worse reputation in the nation. They can be rough. Best thing to do is to give them respect. Then they will leave you alone.

I used to live in Charles County(Waldorf), and PG county cops were notorious and pushed all the crime into Waldorf.

beating the **** out of people is one thing, you didn't say what they were doing...since this is a car forum, I thought it was about a ticket you got...

not defending their actions, but most cops don't go around beings dicks for no reason

cops are human, if you had to deal with the **** they deal with everyday, i think you guys would be a lil uptight too. **** a lot of cops are coo, just the bad apples tend to get the publicity. trust me i've had my fair share of punk cops, but most of them are alright and are just doing their jobs.

This is so true. My father is a Chicago police officer and is ona tactical unit in charge of running projects in the biggest slums of Chicago. The stories I hear are graphic, but they do what has to be done, and I commend them.

Some cops may be lazy or jerks, but they are the bad apples, and most do their job to serve and protect.

I get **** like that all the time in MI. For some reason they think it's so much fun to power trip on everyone that's driving an import "hotrod". As for the C5, a town by mine actually has a 2002 Z06... talk about over-kill. And I thought the CHP 5.0 Mustangs were a bit much back home in CA.
