Default your thoughts on all the NON-GSR DC2's

i'm looking to get rid of my civic and "upgrade" to an integra (long overdue by the way), but (a) can't afford a low mileage 98+ GSR and (b) have a hard time finding the right color and price combo i want.

but i did find some very affordable and nice LS and GS DC2s in the colors i wanted. now, my question, how worth it is it to get the GSR over say, the LS?

to GSR or not to GSR, that is my question.

and could someone give me a quick breakdown of the models? nothing fancy. thanks!

it depends on what you want to achieve in preformance/goals.

i would go with the ls and boost just because its cheaper. thats just my 2 cents of course.

Well first off the LS/GS/RS is DC4. GSR and ITR are DC2. Anyway, almost everyone will tell you to go GSR or even ITR. It's all up to your personal preference. Just don't buy something until you are positive you will be happy. For example, find the price, color, model ect that you want. If you found some LS amd GS's that you like then go for it. They are all very good cars. It's all up to you and what you like and can afford though.

Engine || Vehicle || Year || C/R || Displacement || HP/Torque

B18B1 DOHC (USDM)
Integra RS, GS, LS (DC)
94+
9.2:1
1834.77
142hp/127lb-ft

B18C1 DOHC VTEC (USDM)
Integra GSR (DC)
94+
10.0:1
1797.36
170hp/128lb-ft

B18C5 DOHC VTEC (USDM)
Integra Type R
97+
10.6:1
1797.36
195hp/130lb-ft

There's all the motor differences (to USDM specs) and the rest is all gonna be trim levels. All depends on your goals and what you wanna do.

that actually answers some questions for me too as I'm looking for a teg.....With the LS motor, how much boost can it safely take for long periods of time on stock internals?

Well, 6-7 psi street tuned is said to run perfectly. That's what I plan on doing down the road until I'm terribly addicted and doubling it to 14.

I recently went from an 88 DX Civic sedan, to my 97 LS. The difference is amazing. I want more power later but for now the LS has a good amount of power for a daily driver, it's fun to drive, and I get about 28 mpg. I think you will be happy with the LS, unless you wanna take it to the strip all the time then you should hold out for a GS-R.

if you look hard enough, you can find a good deal. i got my 95 GSR with 117k miles for $1425. sure, i've put probably $1000 worth of maintenance into it, but now it runs perfectly for under $2500. pretty good deal. my insurance for it is only like $150/6mos.

the point is, don't settle for something you're not sure you'll like. the best way to do this is to not be in a hurry to buy a car. when i used to sell cars, we'd salivate over the people who totaled their car in a wreck, had it stolen, or whatever other situation they were in that forced them to buy a car RIGHT NOW. don't be in that situation. take your time and find a GSR that is what you want (maybe a 2nd gen?). personally, i think anything less than a GSR is rather boring.

I agree...well except for the last line. Take your time, you'll find the perfect car.

I bought a 91' GS with 137xxxk miles for $1,100 with a complete tune-up. I had money for a GSR, but why, my ls/vtec will spank a GSR. You could get something for cheap and build it like I did or you could juz buy a GSR, if you have deep pockets. Either way, GS or GSR it still an integra. But before you buy you gotta think what you want from your car. For me, a nice clean sleeper. Good luck with your purchase.

I have a 95 LS. I love shifting at 8200rpm.

buy a LS and drop a JDM B18C in it like I did when you have enough funds.

Your insurance is only $150 every six months? Dam $300 a year?

I own a 94' LS and I love it! It's a great car .. and has much potential. With my b16a2 tranny and exhaust bolt-ons i can easily beat most gsr's on the road

because even your mAd tYtE frankenstein won't resell for near what you have into it, as opposed to my stock GSR, which is worth close to $4k.

Why be an *******? He's just helping the kid out a little bit. I say get an ls, since they are cheaper, unless you find a good deal on a gsr.

Default both are good

i owned a 94 gsr and I loved it, it was reliable and quick, I wanted to upgrade to a gsr engine but I ended up getting a cheap deal for a 95 GSR with a complete 98 GSR swap in it. I love both cars and I mean if you wanna boost go with the LS if you wanna get bolt ons and just chill and take it slower get a GSR it has v-tec and it has a better tranny. No matter which one you get you will be satisfied they are great cars.

oh I'm sorry I'll never help anyone else again. I forgot that SOME people on honda-tech have to be ******** no matter what the situation. who cares? Well i do, because its wrong to call all 94-01 integras DC2. so how about you make posts that are helpful instead of being a dick face.

I agree, not sure what integra714 is talking about, the specs on the engines on all the GSRs (94-01) should be the same.

The Machine
Of course I am partial to the GSR, I'd shoot for that! However you can modify a LS/GS to leave a GSR is the dust any day (if that's what you're concerned about).

But the bottom line is to get what you can afford.
