need help with engine code please
P0131 Primary Heated Oxygen Sensor (Primary HO2S) (Sensor 1) Circuit Low Voltage this is the code i got i did some search and dont really know whats wrong any help would be greatly appreciated.
Plugged into the exhaust manifold- you probably have to remove the heat shield to see it. Its screwed into the pipes coming out of the front of the engine, in between the acutal engine and a/c condensor fan.
And you have to be careful taking it out- they sell a special socket for that purpose. Its called an oxygen sensor remover socket. Its like a socket with some of the side taken out for the wire to go thru.
It will set you back about $15 to replace it.
Im suprised it failed so soon unless something crazy happened with misfires and stuff.

thats what i was thinking why did it go out so soon the car is never driven hard at all but thanks alot for the help.
The O2 sensor senses how much oxygen is left over in the combustion products that are coming into the exhaust system, just before it hits the catalytic converter. Because there is some gasoline and other burnable stuff in your exhaust, it has to get burnt up in the catalytic converter- and for that to happen at its peak efficiency, the computer in your car has to make sure that there is enough oxygen going into the catalytic converter. So the computer can constantly adjust the amount of gasoline going thru the fuel injection to compensate for oxygen levels. Fix it and stop polluting the air.

Shouldn't have to remove the heat shield to get to it. I just used a regular wrench to take it out when i swapped exhaust mani's.
