Toda vs. Spoon Sports?
I was talking to a race shop who is building their own shop car. It's a '96 Civic Hatch DX w/ a B18C5. The car is being completely rebuilt. Mugen exhaust, and suspension, w/ the motor being rebuilt w/ Toda. I never heard of this brand until the shop told me about it. I checked them out on the web (www.todaracing.com) and their extremely expensive. Spoon Sports is up in that price area too, but I know their products are worth it if it's all done perfect. Just wondering if Toda is just as good, better, worse? And if they are as good or better, are they worth it?
wtf, even though i think your prolly not getting any of this stuff. what do you mean as a rebuild? new cams and pistons because spoon or toda doesent make new seals or bearings. but just go with toda parts if a piston/cam rebuild is what you are talking about.
Here's the deal, SPOON is, for the most part, nothing but Honda equipment. They make their own headers and exhaust and a few other thing, but most of their stuff is made by Honda, either to SPOON's specs or later modified by SPOON. TODA, on the other hand, doesn't just do Hondas. They are a Japanese roadrace tuning company. Their Honda parts are all custom made. They use the correct Honda clearances needed, but their stuff is all designed by TODA. Neither company is really better than the other, becuase it just depends on what you want. I personally would trather have TODA because they offer more options. They have FORGED high compression pistons, with different c/r available. They offer several different types of cams, also. Both are good companies, just don't go spending your money on a SPOON crate motor.

Such a waste, like most Honda stuff out in the world...
