Hi, i have an automatic '99 honda accord dx. This problem has just started today and has happened twice. After i park somewhere, doesnt matter if it's flat or on an incline, it's very very hard to get it out of park, its basically locked. i have to force it out of park get out of that gear. im going to have a mechanic to look at it, but anyone know what may cause this?

I dont know what could cause it but if you pull up the border around the base of the shift **** shaft. on the right side you can stick a key in to. That will release it. I have never needed this it might not be what you need good luck

 

You should be able to hear the locking solonoid under the console when you step on the brake pedal, check to be sure the brake lites are working. I've seen lots of solonoids get gunked up from coke and coffee being spilled and soaking down thru the console.
