Default Rough estimate on cost to switch to Methanol ...?

Thinking about switching to Methanol for next season. Can anybody give me a rough estimate on what the parts are going to cost me? Fuel cell, lines, pump, injectors, etc. Any tips for doing the switch are also welcome and appreciated

about 1500-2000 bucks.

You need 8 1600cc injectors
a manifold for 8 injectors
2 fuel rails
more lines
a fuel pump...the waterman mechanical is a good choice...they make a nice bolton kit. U need a shut off valve if ur gonna use a mech. pump.
A Weldon fpr
and ur ecu has to be able to drive all those injectors....

Opps...thats for a turbo setup.

All Motor only needs 1 set of 1100cc's and u can get away with a weldon electronic fuel pump.

Im assuming from your signature that your allmotor? well this is the basic jist of it, methanol compatible fuel pump, allmotor I would recomend anything from http://www.weldonracing.com havent heard much on the new sx performacne units though. Youll need a metal fuel filter filament if they make it for your style fuel filter. Double the injector sizing once again this boils down to your setup. get your fuel rail anodized to protect it from the meth. (drop tony1 a line for this ) avoid teflon -an lines...I would avoid them all together in the first place. deffintly beef the ignition system alittle more, this Im not 110% as Im also new or have no experience to the meth tuning world....this is what Ive learned over the years of building my car and doing research....make sure you fully consult with someone who has abundant knowledge of the product and that he expalins the performacne end, upgrade to be able to use it, and the maintanence which is very important. And last but not least get a knowledgable tunner of meth to help you tune the new setup....hope Ive been as helpfull as others have been to me...Goodluck in your new venture.-pdang

Is this for an NA or FI setup?

That's what I figured and I should have read Mike's and Pete's posts but that's what I was going to get at too. If you were going for NA it would take a lot less as they both mentioned. Most of the higher end Weldons with support meth on an NA setup just fine but if you really wanna be safe go with the Magnaflow Pro Star EFI 600. Anyway you really should be fine tho.

Im not sure about methanol setups other than the long run cost of changing oil more often and whatnot because of meth getting into your oiling systems and corrosion. Everyone that I have ever talked to that ran meth made good power but had more constant maintenance because of it. Say for instance because you can run that much more methanol into your combustion chamber it gets pushed past the rings and makes it way down into the oil and effects the lubing properties of the oil. Also coming from the ATV world where alot of people run methanol on there 2 stroke engines if the engine isnt gonna be ran in a couple days you have to clean out the engine basically of methanol by running the engine on gasoline until all the methanol is gone basically because it will start to rust everything and I have heard the same on race car engines also? Another thing also on car engines and I could be wrong on this also but since your engine runs cooler doesnt that mean that you have to change up your oiling system also?

I think it would be awsome to run methanol on a race car but it may be more expensive in the long run? But then again this coming from a guy that doesnt really have any experience with it other than just hear say. Good Luck

On the brighter side..... 10 gallons of meth costs 20 bucks Change over to meth and I will guarantee you will love it. The benefits out weigh the costs in the long run.

Bringing it back from the dead-new question: Crankcase evacuation as it pertains to meth. Is a catch can adequate? Or is it mandatory to run a vacuum pump?

aeromotive A1000
bosch 1600cc injectors (4)
aeromotive -10 in-line filter 100 micron stainless
NPG-R evan's racing coolant, no radiator
1 gallon cell -10 in -6 out
vp methanol 54 gallon drum= cheap$$$$

just my opinion, that is what i am using
works well for my all motor set-up
no more then $6-700
