Tyre Sizes for the ITR
Need some help, just got my JDM ITR. It needs new tyres for the SVA testing what do you guys recommend?
Please add other choices as long as I can buy them in the UK and there not going to cost me stupid money. (No more than the cost of Bridgestone SO3's).
Sizes I've been looking at are 205/50 R15 or 195/55 R15 (Stock).

Perfect advice. In stock sizing of course.

Makes sense, any comments with regards wet weather performance of the Bridgestone - RE010's? I live in UK so there's gonna be more than my fair share of rain, snow and ice over the next few months.

Wet performance is always a mixed issue and it depends on what you feel is "good" (e.g. Azenis some people feel they are acceptable on wet while others do not). As for Snow and Ice, none of those will be any good for those conditions, they simply will not want to stop...
You'll need snow tyres.
I'd go with the RE010 like DutchITR said, and you'll have a reference point of what Honda intended the R to feel like originally. BTW, what rubber did the JDM DC2R come with? Unless it's a '96spec, shouldn't it have 205/50/16's? (or was it 205/45/16? runs downstairs to take a look...)

The rubber that came on my JDM 16's when I got them was 215/45/16 RE-010. From what I hear they were designed for the JDM ITR just like we got car specific RE010's.
If anyone knows where to get the same RE010's in 215/45 please let me know because I have been searching forever! The only other tire I've found in 215/45 is the Falken Azenis.

Yep, I just checked my corded RE010's downstairs...
The only place I know we are able to get them is at the Acura Dealer, but they cost an arm and a leg... each! So my JDM 16's lay hopelessly corded on the basement floor... sigh...

If the new Advan AD07 is available in the UK, you should put it at the top of your list; fantastic wet traction and stability. A superior tyre to the RE-010 in every aspect (I ran RE-010s prior to the Advans).

All your choices you wrote down are not suitable for snow or ice.
For rain (in the summer), the S-03 is known as the best.

Three things....
The chances that he has a 96 are slim...
The chances that I would remember he has a 96 are slim also...
and last- he did not say that he has a 96 which has a 15 inch rim.
Not hating here just stating.

only thing bout the AVS-ES100's I had those on my GSR, and it had a slight camber problem, which caused the tires to be shredded in a couple months but they are AWESOME when they work right... why not just go with Azenis?
If you can afford it, get some winter tires, and a set of summers. I just moved to Germany from South Georgia, so this tire issue is sucking. The RE010's did about the same in the rain as the Azenis sports IMO. For dry handling the RE010's were a little better, but not enough to warrant the price difference. I even got more miles out of the Falkens. Since they are not a dirrectional tire you can rotate sides. I had thought about the S03's next, but I read a couple reviews wear people were having poblems with balancing after a few thousand miles. hope that this helps.

Why?
Larger diameter doesn't help the FD.
Weight and rotational mass won't help either.
If not for R compounds and or for competition, stock size is fine. 205/50/15's are the largest I'd personally go.

Apologies for not stating that it was a 96spec ITR. Stock size is 195/55 R15. The current Tyre's are some make I've neva herd off, therefore forgot the name once I left the car behind at docks for my journey home.
but there Q rated that's 98Mp/h so they gotta go.
Can't find Yokohama ES100, Advan AD07 or Falken Azenis anywhere for sale in the UK. Therefore my current thinking is RE010's 195/55 this time and then SO3's in 205/50 next time. As I wanna have a good starting point.
If anyone's in the UK and can give me a cheaper price than £350 all fitted I'd be intrested to hear from you.

I personally loved the Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3's ... never tried the D2's...
However I'm picking up a fresh set of S-03's tomorrow, so I'll have a reference.
Personal opinion though... Eagle F1's > 010's

After alot of debate i've made up my mind!
I've chosen Toyo Proxes T1-S 195/55 R15 V, there cheaper than the Bridgestone's. I've stuck to stock sizes this time as i'm not sure if SVA test will be happy about non stock tyres being fitted and I wanna keep the handling as the guys at Honda intended.
Toyo Proxes T1-S
