[Searched] Shaking wheel when braking..new rotors..
Okay, i've searched, and the situations in the archived threads are different from mine...
i have a '91 A/T Civic LX 4dr..63k on the clock
NEW pads and NEW rotors...
i've run two different sets of rims (Stocks 13"s and '95 GSRs 15"s) so i doubt it's a balancing issue
the whole steering rack was replaced as well
i've gotten a few suggestions so far... alignment, transmission, mounts (but they were checked)
here's the interesting part... when my pads and rotors were going to ****, the steering wheel would shake A LOT less or not at all
interesting part part II... when it downshifts on it's own (remember it's AT) from 2nd to 1st (i think) the rattling stops... so i'm thinking it's only in second (or third) gear that it rattles...
i'm just hoping that one day it doesn't suddenly stop and my steering wheel or something comes off and i go flying off the road... that would be no good.

yeah i've done the neutral thing, and it does still shake...
thanks guys, i'll check through the car this weekend

Can is it a hard wobble or a vibration shake? try driving with a passenger and see if BOTH sides are visually shaking.. maybe we can eliminate one side ro the other as the problem

I had a similar problem. I replaced the old rotors but when I put the new rotors on I had the same problem. I had the new rotors cut or resurfaced, which is what I heard you are supposed to do with new rotors anyways, because they might have been damaged during shipping or whatever. Then the problem went away.
I had this same problem too and I repalced front rotors twice...
I changed the rear drums and shoes and then it started to do it so i replaced the front rotors again thinking i warped them already.
Turned out that my drums that i bought brand new turned out to be warped.
Anyway check those.

wheel bearing probably or a caliber is sticking...but i doub the caliber thing. Did you check to make sure the crown nut on the axles are tight? That sorta sounds like the crown nuts came loose so the axles has a little play in it. Check it out.

I'm also thinking warped rotors......did you torque down (in star pattern) to 80ft/lbs? or just cranked down w/ an impact wrench?
Also the bearings could be bad too...rotors could also have excessive lateral runout...

thanks for the help guys, it'll be checked this weekend..
"*** tats crazy. u downshift from 2nd to 1st!"
