Please can anyone help me? The problem is I have just rebuilt my B18C running 9:1 CP pistons etc etc... The old compression was 10:1. I had the VortechSC 9psi aftercooled kit on before the motor was taken out, and it ran fine with Stock ECU with supplied FMU. Now, the engine is back in, same stuff that was taken off put back on, and its running really rich!!! I have no reason why! The only thing I changed was the fuel rail to the AEM version along with the FPR. The car idles sometimes lumpy, and also when you light throttle it the revs rise as normal, abit heavy footed it splutters! Looked at the plugs, BCPR7ES (NGK) and they are fouled to hell. cleaned them up and gapped them to .040. (previously to .030 but still no joy) Still the same problem. The car haven't even moved an inch as I'm not confident enough to drive it out of the workshop to get it tuned! so now its been sitting there for about 3 weeks now. The mechanic has no idea why this is happening as he previously fitted the kit to my stock engine. He measured the compression and all 4 cylinders had a consistant 170psi. Just left the shop tonight, as its still doing the same thing. Can ANYONE try to suggest what is wrong? I understand I need proper mapping, but I am in the process of getting the Hondata harness (my civic has a REALLY weird plug setup!) fabricated for me. But there shouldn't be any reason why its misfiring like that? I measured the fuel pressure before and with the FMU, AEM rail and FPR and the it was off the clock! (100psi +) on idle! Took off the AEM rail and used my stock rail and I have a reading! about 50-60 psi. I have also stripped and cleaned the FMU but its still the same 'spluttering' under semi heavy throttle.
Things I have..
RC 310 cc injectors
Vortech FMU
Walbro 190l/hr pump
AEM fuel rail
AEM FPR (what 'orifice' should I use?)
Stock ECU (for now)
Ignition timing 14 degs
97 RON fuel
New dizzy cap (MSD)
New rotor arm
New BCPR7ES's gapped to .040 (previously to .030 but the same thing)
MSD Digital 6 with coil
I appreciate if you can help me...
Yours in desperation..
Andrew
PS.. Sorry for the lifestory, but I need to be precise so hopefully you guys can see what could be wrong...

Im pretty sure a 10:1 C/R is going to require more fuel than a 9:1, in either case, just adjust the FPR to a lower PSI. If that doesn't help, lower the FMU alittle, I dont think it effects anything at idle, but who knows. If you dont already have a fuel pressure gauge, get one.

Thanks.. This sounds like a step in the right direction. Any idea on what setting I should aim at???
Its hard to say w/o a gauge, theyre only like 30 bucks, any performance place should have one, I would go get one tommorrow, take 20 mins to install it, then we can really help you out. Otherwise we're stabbing in the dark.

Fuel pressure? You mean the gauge that you have to undo the banjo union from the fuel filter and measure from there? The mechanic has one though...

Well at the moment the FP was recorded @ 57PSI on idle... He tried to reduce the FP but it was the lowest the AEM can go! However there are different 'orifices' that was included. Any idea what 'stock' orifice to use?

Stock fuel pressure at idle should be 41-48psi with the hose off...sounds like there is something wrong with you AEM fpr (not uncommon)
also, if you are using a stock ECU with those 310cc injectors that will cause you to run rich as well...but it seems you were running these before as you had stated
