Stock LS Rod Limit?
How high can the stock ls rods rev too? Would it be any better if I put a stock gsr ecu in my stock ls just no vtec with a higher redline and richer fuel map? Would it not be good to use the gsr ecu?
no, it would not be good to use a gsr ecu in a stock ls. the ls rods can rev a little higher, but i would not recommend doing it without arp rodbolts.
yeah ive read that they are only good to about 7600 RPM..... after that you will be risking either sending a rod threw your block or haveing the rods bend.... If you are planning on revving higher than stock redline i Also suggest you use arp robolts.. And i dont see why you want your Stock engine to redline any higher, you wont be making that much "if any" more power.....
its very possible for you to even loose power just like sn2 said so be carefull messing with things like that unless you know what your doing , you could even run to rich with more fuel and not enough air to accomodate.
i'm not planning to rev it higher then stock if its not possible. i was just wondering how high the stock rods can handle and i had a gsr ecu sitting around so i was gonna throw that on just for fun if it works.

The ls rods should be good up to about 8200 without arp rod bolts. But i wouldnt take them past 8000 if there are any miles on them..... good luck with your 9500 rpm.....

So do you have Ls/vtec yourself???? Is it running stock Ls rods??? If so, how long have you been running your ls/vtec??? And how often do you take it into the 7600-8200 rpm rang??? I was just wondering because I have read a few articles telling about the effects of doing this to an LS rod..... and it wasn't pleasent...

i have an lsvtec with stock rods. i rev to 7500 constantly, and sometimes up to 8k. it's been running great since june of last year. no problems at all.

Yes I have an LS-Vtec.....The rods have 200000 miles on them and i daily drive it....and whenever i want take it to 8000. I have missed shifts a few times without problems at all. I wouldnt worry about taking ls rods with less miles on them to 8000 or even to 8200. If you have the motor apart, you should upgrade to make sure there is never going to be a problem. or you can get them shotpeened with arp rod bolts and you wont have problems taking them to 8500....when they are talking about 9000 or 9500.....the piston speed gets pritty damn high.....i wouldnt do it myself but if they say it is ok then have at it......Crower forged steel rods are they only ones i would take close to 10000 but that is only my opinion cause i like to have a little room for error....good luck i hope this helps

Thanks alot dude ive been planning on doing an Ls/vtec set-up in my teggy but was afraid I would have to upgrade from the stock rods and im just not financially ready for all that stuff just yet ...But yeah thanks again you have encouraged me to actually go through with plans
