Default Spoon magnetic drain plugs

Just want to make sure. The longer one is for the oil pan and the shorter one is for the tranny right?

What is the point of the magnetic drain plug? Do you just pull out the magnet part and it drains? If so, that actualy stays on there?

The magnet is integrated into the bolt, and it extends into the fluid. It's supposed to pick up metal fragments in the fluid. The transmission case already has one built into it, but I suppose it could use another?
