checked the dipstick and it looks like this... is it normal?
does it mean it is low on oil?

Looks VERY low. I would say about 1.5 quarts to be exact.

 

how much do you think i need to add to bring it back up?

or maybe more. Keep adding 1/2 quart increments until the oil is closer to the hole in the bottom of your picture.

It concerns me you're asking... If you take a picture, host it, and post it here, it means you suspect something might be wrong. Why not save time and just look at your owners manual or the Helms... Yeah, everyone starts from somewhere, but if having NO oil on the dipstick doesn't mean anything other then, "I think I'll post a picture about this" then you should have someone else take care of the car.

Comon seriously. If there is no oil on the stick, add some till its where it needs to be. It couldent get anymore self explanatory
