No spark? What could it possibly be?
After doing the compression test on the H22A, we put the spark plugs back in the way it was and the next day tried starting the car but it wouldnt start. We pulled one of the plugs off the distributor and noticed it wasnt getting a spark. We took apart the distributor and cleaned off the fork and the little (stubby things that the fork rubs on when it turns) and still no spark. I am thinking its either the ECU or the module? Any ideas? Thank you
U have a lead that goes from the coil to the distributor take the distributor end off and touch it against the body frame, if it sparks you know its something in the distributor, if you get no spark then get a testlight and test for power on the connections on the coil, if u get power before but not after the coil then ur coil is screwed if they are all good let me know and we can go from there.
InnoVationZ (8:21 PM 10/25/2004): hi, i unscrewed the distributor cap and i saw the wire going from the outside of the distributor and being conected to the distributor, and then another wire going into the coil/module. I touched a peace of wire from the body of the car, and to the possitive of where the outside wire met the one that goes into the coil/module and when i turned the motor over, i got a spark. I guess it has to be something inside the distributor then..but do you know how i can go about finding what it could be? Thank you very much for your help. I have pictures as well if i confused you with what i said. Thanks[IMG][/IMG]
well check between the points in the distributor firstly, does it look like the has been an arc between them and they are slightly discoloured?
to me so far it sounds like perhaps the balast resistor has died which has in turn blown the condensor in the distributor and has fried the points......its a possibility.

Ok, i tested the possitive and negative points on the coil inside the distributor and they both how power....i guess this means the coil is junk?

Do you have a 4th gen or 5th gen? Did you check if there is continuity from the ECU to the distributor and coil pack?
Could be your TDC sensor too...

TDC would throw a MIL/CEL
Check the resistance between the primary and secondary on that coil... it might be bad.
And if you cant, undo the 3 bolts holding the dizzy to the block (mark it with a marker first so you can put it back right), unclip the harness take off the plugs take off the cap, adn take ur ignitor and coil up to your local auto store, they should be abel to test both.
