Default 88 hf question

just bought a 88 hf, and I am getting a Z6 with a JDM tranny (cable)... I know (because I searched) that 88 hf hubs are too small...

However, StorminMatt said in a post in the archive this: "SI axles won't fit HF hubs. BUT HF axles WILL fit an SI transmission. So it is entirely possible that your HF still has HF hubs. Very likely, in fact. Most people try to go as cheap as they possibly can. And what could be cheaper than keeping both your current hubs AND axles?" (https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=657219)

Now is this true? So I the motor I am getting should be a direct replacement using my hf axles, and if not can I use the HF tranny with the Z6?

You can use the HF tranny on the z6 for sure. I am not sure about the axles though. I thought the spline count was different on both ends, not just the hub end. I am not a d series guy but, I am positive you will have an answer soon. Someone give this guy an answer.

hf axles and hubs will work only the hub part is different. I did this on a guys car because i didnt want to change his spindles. Just use hf axles...they arent as strong as si axles thought atleast i would think they arent.

Yes, as long as this "JDM cable tranny" does not come with an intermediate shaft . . .

ok thanks... I think the tranny is from that D15 whatever from japan... The car has 181,000 miles on it, so I am a little sceptical of the HF tranny.... I might give the axles a try when I have them out of the car... If it dosent work, then I change out the hubs and all...

Don't be such a cheap-***. If you really want Si/DX hubs, ask around. Also, I wouldn't use the HF tranny AT ALL, as it'll just make your new pretty motor suck air, and not accelerate worth a dime.

for now I am just trying to make something that gets good gas mileage... My other car is a dodge ram with 12 mpg.... So eventually I am going to turbochage, but for now, I am just going to get something with good gas milage...

Do I need new control arms with the new hubs, or are those the same as the SI?

Yep. Just the hubs. They're really not that expensive. The most I'd pay would be $40 for the pair.
