Default Broken Key stuck in ignition cylinder.

I bought a beater 96 EK auto civic about a month ago to drive as a beater.
I only got one ignition key w/ the car, and getting this key copied has been on my to-do list for a while. So I got it copied today, 2 copies.
I stick key #1 into cylinder... start car.
Turn off car and try to remove key.
Key will not come out.
Tried very carefully to remove key, but eventually key breaks off in ign. cylinder.
Soooo.... is this something I can just get from a junkyard or will I need to order a new one from honda?

What you can do is take the ignition locking mechanism off and take it to your local keysmith. They can disassemble it and rework it with a couple of better working keys.

Be sure to try it out several times before leaving the keysmiths shop.

buy a new ignition lock cylinder and then you will have two brand new keys, and no chance of it going bad again in the future....

if your able to turn the key to the #1 there is a little thing on the actual cylinder that you can push in and the entire key cylinder can be pulled ..

Yeah but even then if the tumblers in the lock itself are worn, he would have had problems anyways.

Auto trans.......My 97 auto EX - key often sticks in the ignition. There is some kind of silly *** safety/security "FEATURE" when you move the lever to park. Next time your key is stuck just gently bump the shift lever forward...you'll here a click.....the pull the key. This is not BS

Had that done too.. didn't fit.
I'm guessing that the cyclinder is not the original.
