Default SSR comps?

Does anyone know of anywhere cheaper than tirerack on the SSR comp's, or same price with free shipping to an APO address?

I don't know anyone one else who is authorized to sell these. I bought mine from tire rack.

what is you opinion on the rims? I was thinking about those or the 5zigen FN01R. I saw the FN01R on discount tire, but they were the cast rims. They wanted some jack for the forged.

You might have some luck finding the SSR Type C, only Tire Rack sells the Competitions. The Type C is basically the same wheels exept no centercap and no polished lip.

It probably doesn't matter much, but I'll take a secod to point out that you can buy SSR 15x7.5 Competitions. The Type C is only 7" wide...at least the only ones I've ever seen are 7".

If you wait and keep shopping, you might be surprised how cheaply you can find a good set of Type C's.

I couldn't find the type C's on tirerack's web site. I found these compX's that look about the same. If there forged and cheaper I would pefer them. On wheelspecs web site they had the type C's weight at 9.2lbs for the 15x7 and 11.1 for the 15x7.5 competitions.

type C

Sad but true... there are only a small handful of people who value these wheels. The vast majority either wants something like a cheap rota, or a "real jdm" version of what Rota is copying.

I just sold a set of virtually new SSR comps for a sickeningly low price.

Anyway... to the original poster, Tirerack is the ONLY place to buy a "ssr competition". They're made specifically for them and anyone else who is selling them is a tirerack reseller. Personally, I love the fact that I can get a replacement for a wheel from tirerack on short-notice should something go wrong -- as opposed to the slow-boat from whoknowswhere...

If you like those wheels you should look into these:

Black Racing Pro-N1:

I like the SSR competitions myself, but they are a good deal of money with nice tires - about $1300 shipped from Tirerack. These Pro-N1s are slightly cheaper and you don't see them around as much.

Those wheels do look nice. I looked on wheel max's website, and they had them listed under 5Zigen. I tried to look them up on wheelspecs and 5Zigen USA and couldn't find any info on them. I imagine for that price they are cast. I just bought a set of Works rszr's about a hour ago. They look pretty damn ugly, but hey their price was cheap and the're forged.

Just a reminder that Type C's are not hubcentric.

They are strong, so you'll probably never have a problem, even in track use, but some of our more analytical owners get upset by things like that.

They're also one of the heaviest wheels in this segment as opposed to one of the lightest.
