Default Hot... so very hot

Does anyone know why my cabin is so hot... particularly from the gear box area?

I have done a H22a swap and definately dont have an overheating problem.

And since doing the swap my engine light has come on a stays on. Does anyone know why?

Thanks

exhaust heat/fumes is probably coming up through an opening around your shifter. had the same problem when i did auto to manual swap without covering up the hole.

the exhaust is hot, theres a hole where your shifter is...put two and two together...

About the CEL...pull the code ala the thread stickied at the top of the page and find out whats wrong.

you probally dont have any heat shields on the exhaust around the area where the shifter is causeing the inside to be hot

Roll your windows down or turn the A/C on.

Not sure what car you have, but with an H22 swap, there's some trimming of the shifter area to fit everything properly in most cases. Since there's no factory trim to close the gap, yours probably allows heat to pass through into the cabin.

Yes, this was also my problem in my Integra after I did the 5-speed conversion. I just welded/riveted some sheetmetal in that area and everything was fine.

very true.

you need to cover/seal the area where the old shifter was and also cover up the hole where you cut to fit the 2 shifter cables.

my cabin was also hot so i welded some sheet metal over the open areas.

as for the CEL, is it affecting the car at all? i have a CEL that stays on and its from code 12 which is the EGR. check the code and see what it reads.

May I STRONGLY reccomend that a heat shield there or any plugs be sprayed with a enamel based cermaic spraypaint? They DO reduce thermal heat transfer, I can vouch for this, Sprayed my Short Ram Intake, and after driving for a while, sprayed versus shiny aluminum, its touchable after driving. If you spray the metal thats blocking the heat, this should help. Got mine at walmart for like 5$.
