Default Oil change what should I do

My question is I got my car about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks ago and when I check the oil dip stick, the amount of oil is a tiny bit below the middle of the two dots. I hear a lot about these h22s burning oil...so If I add more oil, what kind of oil should I put when I don't even know whats in it right now? I just want to add a little cuz someone from here (HT) told me to fill it up to the 2nd dot. If its non synthetic would it be safe just to add a tiny bit of whatever oil I choose(Royal Purple I prefer) cuz IM not getting my oil changed til next week or so...or should I just wait (I know my question is stupid), but if I do wait maybe its unsafe cuz my oil level is getting on low side?

btw it has about 62k miles

I would recomend that you just keep a close eye on the level and not worry about it till you do the oil change.

But if you are that worried do an oil change now.

Good Luck

ok seriously... if you don't know what kind of oil they put in there to begin with then you should be bent over with no vasoline. if your oil is going to be changed next week then just put some 10-w30 in there and call it a day. no need to be so picky when you're going to change the oil soon.

if you're that worried - just change it now - then you'll know whats in there for sure - why wait a week?

you have enough oil, don't sweat it.

I would think you would be able to go for another couple weeks without any problems. Anyways if your low on oil, the oil light on your dash will light up.

I dunno about that, people say that once the oil light turns on its too late and most likely you'll **** up something.

Also I wasn't asking about the oil lighting up...main question was how bad would it be to add a lil bit of royal purle to the car, a car I just got so IM not sure what kind oil is in it right now!

your car has 4.5 or so quarts of oil. there is one quart difference between the two dots. you are low half a quart, top it off and forget about it. then change your oil when you planned.

So do we. You got your answers, now quit whining and follow them. If you're that worried about it - don't add any and just change your oil.

so for all those ***-hats who can't read, the reason he doesn't know is because he just bought the car!

yes, mixing two kinds of oil CAN **** your engine up, if it was non-synthetic, and your switching to synthetic- (since your just adding a little bit it should be fine).

If I were you I'd find some sythetic blend, top off the oil and then from now on I'd use a synthetic blend, not a full syn.

BTW when the oil light comes on that means that there is air that is getting pushed through your oil pump... doesn't sound too healthy to me
