AEM CAI question
After swapping my H22 into my 92 Si i ordered my AEM cold air intake which is supposed to work with 92-96 Si preludes or 93-96 VTEC ludes. AFter getting it i found that it has a hole in the top of it and no vacum line to go to this hole. Anyone got any input as to how to plug the hole? I dont want something getting injested into the intake and messing up my engine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
There is no nipple. I just a hole and the intake comes with a rubber thing that pops in there and you slide a double sided nipple in there that also comes with the intake but it seems that everytime i go to put the nipple in, it pops the rubber piece down into the intake tube. Then i get pissed and have to rip the intake back off of the throttle body to get the rubber part out of there.
OK, just <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Hawkze_2.3 »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">JB Weld the hole

That would be fine if it didnt look like crap after doing it. Id like to do it a much cleaner way. Im sure someone else has had this same situation? Anyone?

no this is a seperate hole aside from the connector for the hose to the valve cover. Its just a 1/4 inch hole in the tube right on top of the intake beside where the band slides on to connect it to the throttle body. Ive owned 2 5th gen ludes and installed AEM CAIs on both of them and neither of them had a seperate hole in the intake......so im a little confused. Ill try and take a pic tomorrow and post.
only other thing i can think of is maybe a nitrous port. but if you ordered it new, they usually don't come with those. honestly, you would be fine for short term just taping over it. won't look too nice tho.
yes! thats what its for and the H22 doesnt have one and i looked on my old H23 intake a lil bit ago and it does have that valve. So im trying to figure out a clean way to plug the hole since its just a hole with no nipple on it, but i want it to look good too. Im pretty stumped on what to use......hmmm

Can you post a pic?
We might be able to give you a better suggestion if we
know exactly what it looks like.

my aem v2 has it and i have a h23. I know the h22s only have to plug one thing into the intake, but the h23 theres another hoe u need to plug a little rubber to. I know the 5th gens dont have it either.

*sigh* who's got a pooper scooper?...the IAT (intake air temp) sensor is on the opposite side of the plenum and has no vacuum anything on it.

YES THE HOLE IS FOR THE STARTING AIR VALVE/AIR BOOST VALVE, h22a do not come with one, but a block off plate instead, h22a1 DO come with one, you can either cap it off or get a starting air valve/air boost valve and put it on your jdm manifold and connect the vac line, its not necessary though considering jdm doesnt come with one....but you will have to get one if you want to pass bar in cali
OMG. For all the H23's with intake son this site, I can't believe that I am reading this.
OK- It's for the AIR BOOST VALVE which someone has also already refered to as a "Starting Air Valve". Look at the vacum hose diagram sticker on your hood and it shows you how it routes.
As for plugging the hole- get creative, go to a plumbing store, or home depot, surely you aern't the first person to ever have to plug a hole. Good luck.

that hole is for to connect the hole on the valve cover to the intake's little hole for vacumm release from valve cover....if you connect the intake will suck more vacumm off from the valve cover help the pressure under the valve stablized better and blah blah blah.
