Default winter performance

I had an 85 jetta that could run circles around my 93 EX in the snow or ice. The jetta unfortunately has desintegrated. The Honda is an all-round higher quality vehicle except this winter performance issue. What can I do to help the civic out in the winter?

I had the same problem when switching from my old jetta to the honda, and 2 or 3 guys at work have said the same thing about going from VW to honda. Not much you can do, it's just the way they handle.

Get some snows (I used the set from my jetta on my civic, so that wasn't a factor) and try to get used to it. Take it easy the first season, and after that you should be fine. After three years, I've forgotten how good my VW was in the snow.

My civic isn't bad by any means. Same tires and driver between the two cars; the VW was just more planted in the snow. It just has to do with weight distribution wheelbase etc...
