Default I have to say...Congradulations to SMSP...you made it pal.

I think we should all congradulate David Stadulis.

The guy started making headers out of his house, no budget, no web site...and just a few people marketing his stuff.

He had no flowbench, no facility, nothing but his brains to design a good product and make a living.

And I have to say...in just a short time...SMSP headers have gone from:
"what brand is that?"
TO:
"I want an SMSP header on my ride"

And that takes alot to start from nothing and be at the top of the heap in just around a year.

He deserves an applause and a congradulations.

His header might have been amoung the best, or the best on the stock Type-R...but I will tell you, on one of my modified B20/VTEC's it makes a good 35 WHP over stock, and a good 10-20 WHP over a JDM 4-1. And I am very pleased with its performance. And quality.

So please fella's..

lets all congradulate him for his efforts and his products.

from me.

Jeff

Then he must be guessing then

SMSP header did very well the power is way at the top but it doesn't make good torque and mid-range power then Spoon , Toda or TypeONE

EK9R, not to flame but the hp and tq levels were side by side with the toda, type1 and spoon, when i looked at the charts.
Like this, show me how badly the toda header beats the SMS... http://www.automotiveperformanceengi..._SMSP_Toda.gif
So i mean unless i am blind or something ...lol.

Dave, congrats, your headers are top notch and i LOVE mine.
I have been a SMS guy since i saw the results of his header versus a jdm 4-1, ordered mine soon thereafter.

I have to say the test was most impressive and i have to say all the headers did good.

Almost EVERYONE is looking at the header test with blinders on... it is a shame...

yes, please do. i was under the impression the we were just trying to give props to smsp for doing so well against the comp considering that he has no where near the budget that the other headers have invested in r&d/engineering. i give him two thumbs up. all the headers performed well, and thanks to the guys who put it on, did the work, and using the r!!

and thanks to the guys who put it on, did the work, and using the r!!
Which included SMSP, who built a catback and testpipes for the test (and of course header), bought cap, rotor, and plugs for the tune-up, and drove his 455 all the way from VA to help out.

Thanks

Well, I've been planning to get him or Hytech to make the header for my later swap, and was telling everyone interested what I figured the results would be .....

Congrats Dave ....... when I get the swap done next Spring/Summer, I'll be taking a trip down to Fredericksburg to have you take a look at what will work best!

Regarding 1.8 liter motors, there are a few brands that are good..

but for 2.0 liter there is only one choice. SMSP.

If I have the time/money I'll show you what the "big-tube B20" SMSP header will do against the JDM Mugen, JDM ITR 4-1 and JDM DC 4-1.

There's no comparison.

(On a side note, for my 1.8 street-driven R, I am 100% happy w/ my DC JDM.)

I don't see how Spoon, Type One, and TODA out power SMSP in the mid-range too!!

SMSP, nice header!!!

But I guess since SMSP have the advantage of running his own cat-back, I would say it is a tie with other top headers in the test!!

The R header test, in NO WAY, shows SMSP's true worth.

Mod'ed B motors truely shine with Dave's headers. If anybody thinks Toda,Spoon, JDM, etc headers are "better" than dave's................be prepared to get schooled at the "tree" or on the course....

Lol, well as Jeff says: the numbers don't lie!

But hey, I've got a nice toda header too and it is a solid 2nd throughout the entire rpm band... whereas smsp lacks down low...

Thats Jack for ya

Since my car will remain mostly stock, I will be keeping my JDM, but if I were to go the cam route again, SMS would get my money. He is a great guy. Congrats Dave !

Since we're talking SMSP and all, and since I don't feel like sifting through 300+replies, I'll ask:

How much is an SMSP header? Also, what would be the BEST way to hook it up to my exhaust? does Dave also make testpipes and such? i'd like to have a testpipe w/o 02 bunge since I'm OBDI.

Does Dave post up here? I thought he did...

GAH! I wish! Eric does though... Hrm... I wonder if he wants to trade...?

And b18c5 efghijklmnop: IM SMSP or email him... He has a cool adjustable primaries and secondaries header and with his full exhaust a slide-out test pipe... Very nice. That's definitely a setup that can grow with your mods...

For the nearly same amount of $$, I would choice SMSP over TODA or Spoon for sure. Custom build header should always work much better than mass production one, specially for heavily modified car.

Damn, I would like to see a header test between SMSP and Hytech on a car with TODA spec B or C or JUN 3 cams!!

That's the correct price and the header in the test was an adjustable unit. This was the first time the ITR header was dyno tested on a "stock" ITR.

As would I...

I'd actually like to see the test conducted again on an ITR with Spec B's...

Jason- who is curious to see the differences of the Hitech, SMSP, and Toda in the midrange...
