Default S2k oil filter on an ITR....

I was doing some reading on oil filters and was surprised to find out that the worst US manufacture of oil filters makes them for Honda's in the US. Fram or Honeywell produces them for US Honda's here is some info on them. http://effinmotorworks.com/Filters.htm
I am buying just the S2k filters for mine through the dealer from now on.. Fram sucks...

The fram filters designed for Honda are of a much higher quality than the ones you purchase from Wal-Mart. The S2K filter is larger which decreases oil pressure, the ITR filter is slightly smaller which in turn increases oil pressure and makes for crazy mAd 3Rd GEaR VTTTACk Yo!

Don't waste your time or money and just get the filter that's designed for our cars. If you don't believe me, go to Walmart, buy a fram, then go to HOnda and buy a ITR filter, next cut them open side by side. You'll be pleasanly surprised as to how much of a higher quality the ITR filter actually is.

Yep, i just cut the Honeywell open that i pulled off yesterday. The relief valve fell out and the ends are cardboard. I then cut all of the media out and compared it to the media from a used S2K filter and it has 1/3 less than the S2k filter...

i used the KNN filter and changed my header and cat at the sam time so i notice it running very well, and mad vtec, but cant tell if the header helps more than the smoothness of the oil change with a good filter

well it's easy to say things about this brand and that but my personal oppinion is that OE honda filters are among the best so the fact honda came up with a high performance version with the Hamp filters leads me to believe they did there homework and you can't go wrong

Which is why I have a case of them and I've had no issues even with some beat down high mileage engines that I do tuneups for exclusively

That's what I've always thought. I'm using an Amsoil ITR filter now, but used to run an RSX. I didn't see anything bad, but they're a lot smaller than the regular ITR size and heard that the increased oil pressure is better?

Q: Why would you want a larger filter to decrease oil pressure? Isn't higher oil pressure better or could it cause something to fail?

using a smaller oil filter does not increase oil pressure and if it does its so minute of an amount its ridiculous and thats only @ idle...

Filter surface area of the Wix 51334 is quite low. I have hacked one open before.

Just to let some of you no that the s2k filter is the old itr filter. And this is my 2 cents, the new thiner oil filter that honda has out is made for the new k series and the little fat filter is whats really made for our R"s.

Honda uses the same oil filter for virtually every fuel injected model, basically 1988-present. 15400-PLM-A02 is the smaller or commonly called "K-series" design. When the older "larger" style part number is inputed into the system, it supersceedes to the smaller filter. I still use both and don't see or feel a difference. As long as it's changed often, you're in good hands. Kinda cool to know that we have the last 15 or so cases of the "old skool" larger filter(made by filtech) in existence.
