Default Distributor Wiring Problem (8 wires and 9 wires) HELP!

Ok, first off I searched this topic and gathered some information but was wondering if anyone can offer additional information. Ok, so we are doing a swap. The car is a 2000 American Civic Ex (automatic). We are using the stock wiring harness. The motor that is going in is a Canadian 2000 ITR motor (obviously converting to standard tranny). So, the wiring harness has 8 wires for the distributor, the b-series distributor that came with the motor that we are using has 9 wires (what we are used to seeing). So, I was wondering what to do regarding this problem. Why does the one have 8 wires and the other 9?
Summarized:
8 wires with wiring harness (2000 American Civic Ex)
9 wires with distributor (2000 Canadian Integra Type R)
What would you do?
Thanks a lot for any help!

Here is additional info I found out after doing some more research. Correct me if I am wrong.
CKP 2 wires
CYP 2 wires
TDC 2 wires
ignitor 1 wire (blk/yel)
* I think this is where the problem is. Are there two wires for some distributors and 1 for others? Other one being (drk blu).
ignition input 1 wire (yel/grn)
Some "hacking" of the harness and distributor plug has occured before the problem was discovered so that is why I am unsure of the colours, just need to know what the "9th" wire is for. Thanks guys.

Just a thought. Does the extra wire have something to do with having a tach or not?

Yes, it's for the tach. On distributors without this lead, the ECU outputs the tach signal.
