Default Accord Type R / Euro R transmission

I have the ATR tranny in my Prelude and want to change out the final drive to around 4.7. Prodrive said theirs is 10 bolt and mine is a 14 bolt. Anybody know of any JDM or Euro OEM or aftermarket companies that offer this?

Thanks

I was under the impression the Euro-R had the 10 bolt...so you can swap quaife etc.... are you sure it's a euro-r? what's the tranny code?

Thanks for the reply. Sorry for not responding sooner, I've been away for a few days.

My tranny code is a U2Q7. I spoke to prodrive and they told me that mine was a 14 bolt, unless their mistaken. I remembered that I had some photos of inside the transmission. Unless this isn't the final gear, it looks like 10 bolt to me.

What do you think?

is that your diff? If so then I was right, it's 10 bolt.

Prodrive is confused because the M2B4 JDM LSD tranny has a 14 bolt so the final drive and aftermarket LSDs are not compatible.

They likely do not know about the Euro-R/Type-R being 10 bolt as they rare. I never opened mine but others in europe with Type-R trannies are running aftermarket LSDs

Tony:

Last year i installed the Prodrive 4.7 FD in my ATR gearbox. The bolt count on the differential of the ATR gearbox is 10. By the way, how is the tranny doing?

Thanks, now if only I could find somebody who can help me justify the $1,250.

Do you know of anybody who's installed the 4.7 and what their thoughts are?

Hey, what's up Mark? I didn't see you post.

The tranny is awesome. It took about 3-4% off of my lap times. What's your opinion of the 4.7? Feels faster or is faster?

I'll drop you a E-mail later about some other items I need.

I'll trade your tranny for my M2A4 with a Quaife...you know you want to

Have a friend who has a final drive on a m2f4. His car feels and is faster. Coming out of turns (assuming you're talking about track), he's in vtec right away whereas normal trannies are about 4-500rpms below.

Another discussion I read had S2k owners saying a Final Drive makes the car accelerate like a Supercharger (assuming you can shift faster enough).

Tempting, the Quaife is suppose to be a better LSD, but I'd rather keep the better gearing of the ATR.

Thanks anyway
