Default i bought Supertech pistons...anyone else use them?

Supertech pistons are manufactured from extruded high silicon, enhanced 4032 alloy that low thermal expansion, excellent wear resistance and higher thermal conductivity. A phosphate dry lubricant coating is applied to pistons to protect against ring micro welding and ehance skirt lubrication

Supertech Performance has more than 30 years of experience under its belt in the design of racing pistons and the utilization of the latest CAD software & Finite Element Analysis enables them to design strong high-performance lightweight pistons for each application. Supertech pistons are manufactured from extruded high-silicon, enhanced 4032 alloy (with additional Cu, Ni & Mg) that has low thermal expansion, excellent wear resistance and higher thermal conductivity. A three step forging process yields a fine structural grain oriented in fibers in the same direction of the stresses. Several heat treatments provide the piston with a high tensile strength and evenly distributed hardness that will withstand boost up to 42psi. The slugs are CNC machined with special diamond tools for dimensional precision, perpendicularity and flatness of the ring grooves. Contact reduction grooves are standard. A “phosphate dry lubricant” coating is applied to protect the rings against “micro welding” and enhance lubrication on the skirt/cylinder area.

copy pasted...they were on an introductory sale at the shop i go to for 350!!! i couldnt pass it up...i went supertech because they have a good backround with engine performance, hope these pistons a can hold up...wondering if any out turbo b18s are running this setup for turbo, i bought 81.5mm 9:1 compression

Last time I saw some they were very heavy. But that doesnt mean that the final product are heavy.

I remember hearing about the project like 18ish months ago

cool to have something out. its interesting, because there are alot of other piston comapnies out there already. but if they are going to be marketing with a cost leadership styles (lowest price pretty much) then it could be a hot seller

Even if they are, us low revving LS guys don't care much about rpms like you slow VTEC guys do. A little extra weight doesn't mean so much

last i heard hypereutetic (silicon-alloy) pistons suck for boost. crack, fall apart. you name it, they do it.

of couse, this is just what i've been told. i've only seen it in one instance, and it was in a kragens brand 'recon' motor. we all know those are budget motors, naturally they use budget materials (hypers are cheaper to make).

i'm willing to bet they've developed a bit and can take some boost(heat) now. the ad specifically says 42psi

Those aren't thermal coated in the jet-hot sense. That would be stupid. If the heat isn't in your piston, theat leaves more to be in the sleeves and combustion mixture.

If I blow up this block, I might look into those. Building a block is stupid expensive.

not sure about their pistons, but I've heard nothing but GOOD things about their Valvetrain components.

Substitute the word "detonation" for "boost" and you win a cookie!

Then again, most any piston sucks for detonation...

it damn well better be an oreo!

common mistake. but i'm sure the general consensus is: hypers = crack easy with detonation. sure, if you tune it to perfection and you always drive during good conditions then i'm sure they'll work fine. but how many people have it that good?

I wonder how well the 11.9:1 pistons would work with a built N/A ls-vtec.

Supertechs have been around for quite a while. haven't heard that they are any more (or less) problematic than other popular brands. No those aren't hypereutectic.
