Are you looking for itb's? I don't really know much about them, but I'm sure someone elce can help you there. But if your looking for a regular im, Skunk 2 and abes are probably the most popular choices, popular not necessarly meaning best for your application. The skunk 2 is pretty much a replica of the itr manifold, and it has a 64mm throttle body opening. The abes has a 65 mm tb opening. I've seen abes go for under $200 an the sk2 is about $275. The sk2 has been proven many times, and I've seen some controversy over the abes as to what kind of gains it has. The stock gsr throttle body can be bored to 64mm, as with the b16. What kind of head are we talking about? Setup? Personally I've never heard of topspeed. I have the skunk 2, no complaints. If your running a gsr(as i am), tuning is especially key, otherwise your power band is going to suffer(under 6k) due to the stock fuel map on the p72. aka i'd dump the vafc II and get a hondata.

That helps for sure....yes I have a B18C1 Port and polish will happen within 60 days just waiting for the guy to free up some time to do it. Not really looking for ITB's but sure would be cool. I HATE MY VAFCII !!!!!!! I will be gone soon. AEM ems or Hondata will replace it . I am not sure how big to go with the TB I was thinking 68mm or 65? Skunk 2 is the response that I recieved from Drivers Image in Chicago so that sounds like it may be the way to go. What type of difference did your skunk 2 make for you dyno wise?

someone correct me if i'm wrong, but using a bigger tb then the opening on the im is pointless(don't quote me on that). It kinda depends on what your power goals are. You already mentioned that you plan on going with sk2 stg 2 or 3 cams. imo a sk2 im with the gsr tb bored to 64 mm would work just fine, and at the same time be most cost effective. if you have the $$$, port the sk2 manifold and get a bigger tb. I don't know what kind of gains just my sk2 im made. It's hard to tell. I upgraded the im after about 3k worth of headwork. I'll tell you that the gains you'll feel will be all top end though... The butt dyno says it gets to redline quicker, therefore it's making more power. My car is still a work in progess and won't be dyno'd until next spring.

I thought that it was possible to match the ports between the TB and the manifold?? I could be way off though. I think that the butt dyno will do me justice enough though. What head work did you have done so I could have some idea of what gains overall that you recieved? thanks for the responses

You can match the ports on the tb and manifold, but i don't think that the sk2 has enough material to be bored to 68mm. hence why i suggest 65mm. As for my headwork... I better copy and paste.

Competition Port & Polish
Deshrouded & Polished Combustion Chambers
Back-Cut Valves
Radiused Blend Seats
Competition Five-Angle Valve Job
Hand-lapped & Vacuum-Tested Valve Seats
Cylinder Head Deburred & Blueprinted
Combustion Chambers C.C.'d
Port Faces Lapped Flat (Studs removed and reinstalled)
Decks Milled & Lapped
Radiused Cut Seats
Combustion Chambers Welded & Reshaped (clover-leaf pent-roof design)
Intake Valves Lightened
Rocker Arms Lightened
Fully Balanced & Blueprinted

(taken from dpr's website, i have a dpr stage 6 head)

I got really really lucky and bought this head with cams as a used package deal(talk about all motor on a budget)
This head was built for a stock b18c1 block, and flow charted for toda spec b's
I'm currently running itr cams
project will be dyno'ed in spring

My compression gain comes in the form of headwork. Stock combustion chamber:

clover leaf pent-roof combustion chamber
