high flow cat, will it throw a code? do i need o2 sim.?
i ordered a 2.5" inlet and 2.25" outlet high flow cat from kteller the other day and i also ordered a o2 simulator because i heard that it will throw a code.
my question is, will it throw a code? if not, i'll sell the o2 simulator. also, do you just splice into the wires on the o2 sensor and mount the simulator somewhere in the undercarriage or do you splice into the wires running to the ecu and mount it in the cabin?

um...I have a 2.5 in and out hi flow cat. I have a o2 bung welded on the cat in the stock location. that way you can screw back on your o2 sensor so it wont throw a code.
the o2 measures the efficiency of the cat and if it doesnt meet the threshold it causes the CEL. when the high flow cat is new it *might* be ok to pass, but over time the cat might loose its efficiency and the o2 will throw a CEL. the same thing happens to OEM cats over the yrs but it occurs ALOT faster with high-flow cats for some reason. the o2 sim sends the ecu the signal that the cat is OK so no CEL. the CEL from the cat has no affect on performance so unless you cant deal with the yellow light at night i would sell it...

did you order the kteller cat with or without the o2 bung? if you ordered one with the bung, you shouldn't have to worry about getting a code, just take the o2 sensor out and put it in the new cat.
i got with the o2 bung, then it asked whether i wanted it in the front or the rear. i picked front...i didn't wanna run down and look at my cat but i remember it being in the front...i think?
obd2 cars have an o2 sensor before and after the cat pass 96 is obd2. the second one check to make srue that the cat is functioning correctly or that you still have the cat.
the only reason why a person would want an o2 simulator is if they have a test pipe (no catylitic converter) and want to drive the car around wiht no check engine lights. it tricks the computer telling it that the second o2 is working correctly.
with an aftermarket cat there is no need for an o2 simulator because you still have a cat.
