Ok,

I would like to know if someone would be kind to help me out here. I think for the past month or 2 my car has been misidling and I cant figure out why. My friend said it could be my IACV valve but I am not sure. When I start the engine up and it is cold, it goes up and idles at 2500 to 3000. I go what the hell. It was a lot lower than that 3 weeks ago. When the car is all warmed up it idles at 2000 and bounces up and down from 2k to 1500. I wondered if it could be my timing is a bit off. I do have cams but I cant figure out why it is doing this. Could it be I have a vaccume leak or maybe my sensor(s) could be not reading it right.

When I am at an intersection it is quite annoying because it idles up and down non-
stop.

Note: It idles like if I am playing with the gas pedal, kind like reving it a little.

Edit: As stated above, I have JDM B16A w/ ericks chipped ECU

I had this problem once, turns out I had a an I.A.C. Valve w/two wires crossed when I put my newer D16 engine. In turn, the Fast Idle Control Motor went bad. Replaced em both, & the problem was fixed. Hope this helps.

Now,

For some reason my S-ram CAI is a lot louder now and I can actually hear it suck in all of the air. Its making sounds like Air Vaccume Condesor thingy. It sounds like a psshhhhhhh, but more of sucking in air or someone left the water running going through pipes.

Can CAI go bad ?

 

Is it because I havent done an oil change.

I should of called my title , B16A Idle problems.

Did you do any work on the motor? If it is a vacum leak, buy a can of TB cleaner and spray it around (section/area at a time) on vacum sources and hoses also on seals/gaskets. If the engine revs higher, then you've found your leak.

In my case, it ended up bieng the wrong TB gasket. I was adding a JRSC and got the wrong gasket. (It did not have enough holes in it)

Can I get this TB cleaner at kragen. Also should pick up a Can of carb cleaner.
I forgot one more thing. When My idle is also going wacky , it makes the timing belt smell really funky and stinks. My timing cant be go bad can it?

 

Update: I think I could have a bad map sensor because the map sensor is not reading the A/f right. The hose I disconnect from the Im to the map sensor, it goes away but it comes back when I reconnect it . Well anyone else have any thoughts to my problem.

 

i had the same prob it was my I took my FITV (fast idle thermo valve) out and took it apart carb cleaned it all and tightened it down all the way..
Take the 3 10mm bolts out of the FITV (you don't have to take off the coolant lines). Then take off the 2 8mm bolts off the plate on the back of the FITV. Once the plate is off you will see a white plastic thing, screw that all the way in. This causes a TON of people's hunting idle problems (it's a source of a vacuum leak). Put the FITV back on and start the car up.

Problem fixed, I know what it was.

 

Have you moved or replaced the TPS lately? if so you need to set it.

Replaced...., I did fix the problem by replacing the broken idle system to what the guy who called it that. The little tiny pin broke and it had to be replaced. It is located underneath the TB where its attached.
