Default Is my 68mm throttlebody overkill?

I have a 68mm throttlebody on my B16 and my car seems it is lagging. I have changed my oil, spark plugs, performed compression test, and adjusted the valves. I don't know if maybe the throttlebody is overkill.

Here is my full setup.
B16 cams
crower valves,springs,retainers
port and polish
3 angel valve job
head milled .30
12.5:1 je pistons
eagle rods
ys1 tranny,exedy clutch, act flywheel

Any advice would help.

I have chipped p28 with the "mugen" chip. I also have upgraded fuel with bigger injectors, fpr, and holley intank fuel pump. The car just doesn't seem as fast as I thought it should be.

A throttlebody that big might have actually resulted in a loss of low/mid-range power.
Do you have an aftermarket, or ported im to match the tb???

I find tbs that size are best suited for turbo applications.

I have a 65mm edelbrock tb with an edelbrock victorX manifold, it performs like a dream.

10:1 I bet your running really rich. "Mugen" chip runs really rich and when you pair it up with bigger injectors and fuel pump, you're more likely going to be out of tune and pig rich. I would inspect your spark plugs and also see if there is any noticeable carbon buildup on your tailpipe. Best thing to do is put some money towards dyno/tuning sessions.

I am actually losing low to mid range power. I don't have a port matched manifold. I am considering running a stock throttlebody for now.

My compression is 12.5:1 and yes it runs rich as hell. I did see alot of carbon and they smell like straight gas. I am going to buy a vafc and do some tuning.

Nada, see above. He has an aftermarket fule pump, bigger injectors & a "Mugen" chipped ECU. He needs a VAFC at least, if not something like Hondata.

Hondata is something I going to look into when I go bigger. I am trying to build a B18C1 block now.

that could be part of your problem. run the stock one for now, and consider either and aftermarket im or getting yours ported to match, I'm sure that will help alot.

I think I will just take it off and sell it and maybe just run a 65mm with the JG manifold. Thanks for your help guys.

if u get it tuned, im sure you will feel a big difference, i have a 70 mm tb on my im and i dont feel any lag after tuning... p.s. it helps if it is port matched also. otherwise that 68mm tb of yours isnt really doing anything... for a 12.5:1 comp setup, a 68 mm tb shouldnt be overkill, at least i think it wouldnt be...

My intake manifold isn't portmatched. So that is why I will take it off for now. I think I want a different tb anyways. I have never been a big fan of str products.

12.5:1 compression ratio and stock cams? Don't waste your money on another throttle body, get cams that'll take advantage of your CR and then tune it.

I had crower 403 cams but I am in the process of finding some more cams.

I sold them because it was a good deal in my favor. I am thinking of doing some Spec B's this time round.

A throttlle body will probly give you 2-5 h/p either way, with or with out it ,you know stock b16 make that much power, go to a dyno with a wideband and tune that ****.

I want to go tune it as soon as I get new cams. Hopefully by next month.

i have a b18C1 with 12.5:1 comp. and all that **** ... i recommend some different cams , bigger injectors (if you wanna make any power), and definately look into hondata s200 if this is you're daily driver. My **** barely ran on pump gas before i tuned it, s200 fixed her right up but to answer your question i think the throttle body is perfect as long as you get everything else you need. as of right now yeah its overkill. just my opinion
