Thinking about buying a CRX HF to save on gas. What kind of MPG do you get from this car?
If you have a CRX HF, what kind of real world MPG are you getting? I'm thinking about picking one up to save on gas since I put a lot of miles on my car and gas here is almost $2.50 for 87.
Well most of the high mileage engines get anywhere from 35-40 MPG SOcal driving
I googled that these cars originally got 45-53 stock!!!!
Man that would be real nice right now
You might wanna look at the Civic VX as well

With my hf i get 45-52 mpg. That's pretty much driving all highway and a bit of city. Keeping an average speed of 65 when it's clear. I'm shooting for that 56 mpg like it says in the manual.
My crx also has 152,xxx miles on the stock motor. Still running strong.
I use my crx for my daily driver cause it saves me lots of gas compare to my cx.

when i had my hf motor in i got about 35 driving around the city all the time... and i drove pretty crazy screw shifting at 2.5k
When my crx hf had its origonal d15b6 in it, i was getting 59 miles to the gallon on I-20, and around 45 in the city. That motor had over 200,000 on it and still got great gas milage.

I bought a 91 CRX HF in 91. Still have it. Used as a second car for many years. I love the thing. I upgraded the suspension so its nice and tight. Replaced plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor, fuel filter, adjusted the valves etc. Gets over 40 mpg on 87 octane driving in stop and go traffic all the time. I wanna drop a b18c5 in this car, but I love the mpg so I keep putting it off.
As car as I am concerned there is nothing that is like the old CRX HF. Very useful hatch, good mpg, fun to drive, easy to park and maneuver. Its a real shame noone makes a car like this anymore.
My other car is a subaru WRX. Gets around 20 to 22 mpg using same driving area, requires hightest. Cost almost 3 times as much to drive as the CRX. When I see people driving those H2s I often wonder if the gag when they pay for their gas..

My hf doesn't have a shift light cause it's a cali model.
But the ac is blowing cold.
My cx had a shift light but it only works with the cx ecu. After the swap the little square for the shift light was useless.
The shift light in my cx was a little green square with an up arrow. I assume the hf is the same if i had one.

Not to jack this thread, but what year HF's came with AC? Cause mine sure as hell doesn't have it?

My hf is an 88. Originally came from Cali.
I have the original receipt from when the old lady bought it from Valentia Honda in cali w/ only 5 miles on it.
And all the receipts since then.
This lady put on a lot of extra options on the car, but she didn't have the stock radio though. It had a block off plate. Inside the speaker grill it still had the covers for where the speaker should be to block out the dust.

You get 47 MPG in a sedan?
Is that measured going 50mph for a few hundred miles straight or something?
How are you checking your mileage?

The shift light usually comes on around 2300-3000 rpm It turns a neon green color and turns immediately off when you push the gas pedal. I've had my crx for 2 years and put nearly 40k on it. I live at the bottom of the State of California exit 2 on the I-5! And i'm paying 2.30$-2.60$ a gallon. Mostly city driving and not having my foot in the IM i would get 49-50mpg. It was sweet. <10gal tank for 25$ i'd fill and go from TJ to Sacramento on one tank. 5th gear HF tranny was GOD!
If you go to my thread in my sig you can see the Gear ratio in work. 100mph in 3rd gear. you can also see where the shift light is located on the i. panel.
