Default stripped bolt : 14mm on bottom thread of fuel filter 99 SI

man this is not good, the 14mm bolt that is on the bottom of the fuel filter was stripped when i went to change the filter today. what are some ways to get stripped bolts off? the problem with this bolt is that im afraid to bend the fuel line if i pull to hard. do i have to take it to a shop and have them fix it or are there any alternatives? any suggestions would be appreciated thanks in advance!

1.) tubing wrench (it's probably not stripped badly enough that you can't use one)
2.) Vice grips
3.) cut the fuel line and use a Craftsman "bolt-biter" for getting stripped nuts and bolts out.

What do you mean bending? It's rubber, it can flex without ripping. Just don't over-do it.

Yes, use Vise-Grips.

i tried using the vice grip and all it did was bend the fuel hardline out of place and messing the bolt up beyond rocognition, it wont even bend back to fit in the bracket anymore...not good

why dont u leave the fuel filter bolted to the firewall, that way the fuel line won't move.

there is a 19 mm nut on the bottem of the fuel filter for eactly that reason...so you dont twist the fuel line off...put a wrench on it and hold it, then take the fuel bolt off...

I often wondered what it would be like to go through life without sense enough to figure out conundrums of this magnitude. Thanks to Honda-Tech I can stop huffing propane and watch someone else muddle their way through it without all the costly brain damage.

for Honda-Tech.

LOL haha

Dude...your obviously not the sharpest knife in the drawer....

SO HERE IS A DIY, IN CAPS SO YOU CAN UNDERSTAND IT MORE CLEARLY.

1. THERE IS A BOLT THAT IS PART OF THE FILTER ON THE BOTTOM OF IT. USE SOME KIND OF "DEVICE" ON THIS, SO IT WONT SLIP OFF.

2. HOLD IT WITH YOUR LEFT HAND.

3. USE ANOTHER "DEVICE", NAMELY A FLARE-NUT WRENCH ON THE FITTING THAT SCREWS INTO THE FUEL FILTER, AND IS ATTACHED TO THE FUEL LINE.

4. HOLD THE SECOND WRENCH IN YOUR RIGHT HAND.

5. WHILE HOLDING THE "DEVICE" IN YOUR LEFT HAND, TURN THE WRENCH IN YOUR RIGHT HAND CLOCKWISE, BECAUSE YOU ARE UPSIDE DOWN, AND IT WILL LOOSEN IT WITHOUT BENDING THE BRACKET OR LINE.

6. WOW...DID YOU REALLY THINK 3 10MM BOLTS AND SOME CRAPPY STAMPED STEEL WOULD HOLD UP TO YOU TRYING TO CRACK THAT NUT?
