H22 swap into 94-97 accord / 97-99 CL questions...
I've personally, never performed this kind of swap, just trying to gather some info on it though. Oh yeah, go ahead and flame too, cuz I didn't bother to use the search function
.
Anyways...
Who's performed a H22 swap into a 94-97 accord and a 97-99 2.xLiter CL?
I got some questions regarding wiring and some other stuff thats itching in the back of my mind...
thanks

...well I found some info yesterday through a friend of mine who has past experience with H22 swaps into Accords; pretty much answered my questions.
I also read some valuable H22 hybriding info from the "Accordingly Done" forum - > HERE<-
But here's what I learned from my friend when performing a swap into an OBD2a 5-speed CL using a US OBD2 H22 engine...
- wire harness ...
reuse the CL engine harness and apply it to the H22 engine. Reusing the CL harness is way easier than trying to adapt an OBD2a prelude engine harness into a CL because of a few main plug differences. The extending of wires is necessary and some sensor plugs need to be changed via the wiring info on the Accordingly Done forum's h22 swap article linked above.
- shifter ...
reuse the CL shifter assembly + cables (compatible with H22 tranny), altho the F22/23 tranny is compatible with the H22 engine, but has a crappy gear ratio.
- axles ...
reuse the CL's complete axles (compatible with H22 engine)..altho I'm not sure about the half-shaft....I assume its the same as an H22's half shaft. help?
- motor mounts ...
I just went off the info from the Accordingly Done forum; took note of the slight shave job that needs to be done to the driver side bracket in order for proper fitment of the mount.
- ecu ...
Since this swap is US OBD2a spec, using the rare & highly wanted (from what I hear) US OBD2 P13 ecu is thee magic ecu to power the engine. Or simply convert to OBD1 and use an OBD1 P13.
If doing this swap into a '99 CL (OBD2b) the same info applies but when it comes to the ECU, 3 options are available:
A) use an OBD2b P5M ecu (immobilizer equipped) and do the dreaded task of getting the Immobilizer reprogrammed at the dealership to be compatible with the CL ignition. or perhaps swap immobilizers from the stock CL ecu over to the P5M...which I'm not fully sure works.
B) run OBD2b->OBD2a jumper + rare 96 OBD2 P13 ecu
C) convert to OBD1 via jumper harness & use an OBD1 P13 ecu
btw, with preludes/accords/CL's, I ALWAYS get confused when OBD2a ended & OBD2b started. '98 was the start of OBD2b for preludes/accords/cl's correct?
how my doin so far?

In reply to your comment about putting this info on the H22/civic sticky...
When doing a H22 hybrid in an OBD1 civic/integra and after reading the ECU pinout swapping info on the Accordingly Done site, it looks like there just might be a fix for that damn EGR check code 12 afterall, when using an OBD1 P13 in an OBD1 civic/integra....

What fix? you can wire it up without CEL. I am in the process of doing a write-up on it.

a fix huh? like how? i wanna get rid of all the egr stuff. components, wires, everything.. can u rid of EVERYTHING and still rid of the code as well?
well in that article I linked above, I might have interpreted this wrong, but the author mentions this:
"NOTE: SWITCH WIRES A6 (EGR solenoid) and A11 (H02S heater) at the ECU"
but doesn't quite say why that needs to be done. I was assuming this might be a fix for the EGR, but my assumption may be wrong, eh?

That is for 94-95 LX accords (maybe more model years). They have different pinouts then other OBD1. It is not a fix for EGR in civics.

good to see other people considering the h22 cl swap....
btw half shaft & axles all the same...and the cl harness does make things alot easier ..for the cl that is

wow nice...
The wheels aren't quite my taste, but nice setup overall.
I didn't know there were black housing headlights available for the CL being that it was a US only made vehicle.......or did you add the black housing loook yourself?

not really looking to trade out anything on the car...
i built the car but because of work i really dont use it (i havent gone to the track yet) so it is really pointless for me to have a turboed car that i dont race
