ITRs blowing up?
from what i heard i know the gsr's have problems at high miles over 100k to burn oil from valve seals but i know 2 people that have blown up their type r motors with just a I/E/H on their cars. people say they arent ment to be beaten on all day long but from what i know thats why they were built does anyone know if this is true that they have weak heads?
It really depends on how you drive. If you take it easy, then the engine will last longer. If you are launching from stop light to stop light, miss shifting, etc. then of course your motor will blow. Tuning and maintainance plays a vital role in the life of your motor as well.
The engines were overengineered with molly coating on parts, oil injectors, oil cooler, the sides of the pistons were lenthened to help with side to side movment, the inside of the pistons were hollowed out to reduce weight, custom connecting rods, special lighter valves, extra crank balancing weights, special piston ring layout, etc, etc, etc.
I would think the ITR engine should see 200,000 being beat on daily and raced without a problem.
The only blown engines Ive heard of are due to driver error(overrevving).

yoooo you heard that too? damn yo. i also hear ITR motors also blow up if you have too much oil in it yo. and if you dont use sunoco 94+ octane you could ruin the cylinder bearings.

Oil injectors? You mean oil squirters? And the Type R isn't the only motor with them. .

personally, u looking in this forum, almost every itr in this forum is BEAT by their owners. u are gonna see failures when engines are beat to hell and back. but they are durable for the most part. i think a b16 is more reliable tho

i think your by far the biggest moron that owns an ITR
you tell me, when a motor with a R/S of 1.74 that has a redline 400-600rpm lower isint going to last longer than a motor with a R/S 1.58.
im glad that you dont represent the rest of this forum, or i might have beefs with my R owning friends...

Whats your point? Most engines dont have them, and they increase the longetivity of the engine. I'm not saying honda invented them just for the ITR
