Default Getting serious on the mods

Ok people I'm saving up money to take my car to the next level. I wan't to go all motor and I know what i want to get. I just don't know what brands can you help me fill in the blanks? I have a 96 GSR w/ bolt ons, FPR, S2 cam gears, VAFC. I going for a street racing setup with around 11.5 compression.

ecu-
cams-CTRs or Toda As
springs and retainers-
pistons- ITR (if it will bump compression)
headgasket- mugen
intake mani- s2 if neccesary

I don't know if i left anything out. I'm new to the internal side of things. Any suggestions?

ecu- Type R ECU for cost/Hondata/Apexi/AEM's new one?
cams-CTRs or Toda As
springs and retainers- If you plan on using CTR cams, and keep a redline of 8400 Type R S&R's should be fine. But if you want to upgrade get Titanium Retainers and Toda/Jun springs.
pistons- ITR (if it will bump compression)
headgasket- mugen (Considered Spoon's?)
intake mani- s2 if neccesary (Huge midrange gains when tuned if using more aggressive cams)

Use the search feature though, you'll learn a lot. Just research each part individually and find out what best fits your needs and then if you have specific questions then ask away. Good Luck either way!

thanks alot man. that helped me out. I used the search feature but everyone had a different set up and different goals. Couldn't find one to suit me. I need to build around the cams cause that will determine my S&Rs, ecu and pistons. I don't want to worry about clearance problems.

It sounds like you only want to do a mid level all motor build. Here is what I would do if I were you, and in fact this is what I was originally going to do.

1. Toda A's w/ the valvetrain to rev to 9200
2. Toda/spoon/SMS Header Whichever one wins the Great Header test
3. Pistons to raise the Comperssion to 11.5:1, I don't recall which ones would do it since it has been a hella long time since I was going to do this.
4. Skunk2 IM
5. HomeMade Comptech IceBox
6. Comptech Exhaust, Just because I like the way it sounds on an AllMotor car.
7. Comptech 6.7lb Flywheel
8. ClutchSpecialties Stg 2, Although any non6 puck clutch would do.
9. Either JDM 4.78 FD or the ATS 4.9 Final Drive.
10. Hondata stage2 nonBoost

That would be a pretty cool setup IMO.

edit-Had to add number 10

when would i have to worry about clearance problems? when i get a thinner gasket and pistons? I've been reading up on that and there don't seem to be any winning combos? which pistons and headgasket.

damn...

screw it.. go all turbo... you'll be much more satisfied with the power gain.. and it's just as relaible as any all-motor debt project... just dont get boost happy..

Hmm. I think i would though. Can't i get a turbo and just run low boost on stock internals?
