Can i still use this tire? please help.
my tire is pretty new. 80% thread left. It's still sitting in my garage as a spare if i need one. I took the tire off because I hit a pothole a while back. Everytime when I drive my car I would notice a bubble(1inch x1 inch) on the outside SIDE of the tire. Then it will go away if I park and let the car sit and cool. my question is, should I just toss it out? and use it if i need it?
thanks
thanks
I did have it dismounted(a while ago) and inside of the tire, I could see where the impact hit. Tire shop told me that the impact on the pothole hit the side of my tire.
anyone else?
anyone else?
it sounds like the sidewall may have a weakspot. personally i would get rid of it, a weakened area of the tire is susceptible to blowing out if enough pressure is put on it (eg hitting another pothole or big bump with this tire on there). thats just me though.

I had this happen on my last car. Slid into a curb, bubbled the tire. In addition to getting a new rim, the tire was fried with the bubble. It turns out that your threads are ripped, as well as the inner steel lining, or belts. SO, no, it is essentially a flat tire. Any driving on it will be taking a HUGE gamble. Your new rim is not worth that gamble.
